Hello everyone,I'm new to this forum and thought I'd introduce myself to start.I'm bmperrin985.I've got a few questions,so I'll just throw 'em out there.#1-I picked up a wrecked[totaled]94 chevy full size,ex-cab with Vortech 350/4L60-e and was planning on dropping the eng./tranny in an S-10.I don't have an S-10 yet but I was wondering if there is any difference in the year of the trucks as to how difficult the swap would be.Are the older trucks easier are harder.Should I look for a certain year?Should I start with a 6-cyl. model.Keep in mind,I'm trying to keep all the fuel injection and computer in proper working order, if that is possible since I am working with a complete doner vehicle.Any help would be much appreciated so I can make a decision on what style of S series p'up or blazer to look for.:D

its easier to use the 96 models with the vortec swap ...get one with a 4.3 then you can use all the harness and and two injector wires for the computer..use the stock computer that came with the s-10 and have it flashed to run the vortec..

and then you have to get the 2.8 mounts for the motor to fit right and you will have it almost done.

Welcome to the site. the folks here are really helpful but test it before you make it final cause a 1/4" difference can be a real headache especially when it comes to flex fans. I have been working on COOLING ISSUES. things like the standard rotation of older full size truck engines.....newer model vehicles have serpentine belts and used reverse rotation water pumps........and engine cooling fans......and electric fans require a thermal switch that is kind of spendy, not to mention the electric fan....that is if you buy new parts.......IT CAN BE DONE THOUGH MUST TEST>>>>BEFORE YOU MAKE IT PERMANENT<<<<<<< and buy a battery operated SAWZALL and a mig welder if you don't already have them.http://photobucket.com/queue
