hey guys I have been looking through past posts but just wanted to get some opinions on my current build. I have a .040 4 bolt 350 and a small base circle comp cams 284 xe. Im planning on ordering an internally balanced 383 kit from eagle 9.8:1 cr and using pro comp aluminum heads. I already have the 670 street avenger carb, and balancer. The Kit has a cast steel crank, 5140 rods and hyperutectic pistons, rings, and bearings $824.99. What do you guys think about that kit? Im getting the heads for 1100.00 assembled- 2.02 intake and 210 cc runners (I think thats the runner size) 64 cc chamber. I have not ordered the rotating assembly yet and just wanted some input/recomendations before I buy any more pieces. My goal is low 12s/ high 11s on pump gas. My truck is a short bed 89 reg cab, t350 with a shift kit and 2500 rpm converter, 3.73s, mt 26x8.5x15 et drags, lakewood s10 trac bars. Thanks!

I think you arewell on your way to those times with that set-up. Good choice in my opinion.

Might want to check this engine out:

This 08-433-8 camshaft was done on a 106* LSA and 106* ICA. Might want to look it over if you haven't ordered the camshaft already. I just so happen to be building something along the same lines as what you are putting together and thought you might be interested.

I don't know if you will see 11s but low to mid 12s will be no problem. You will want a cam that works between 2500 and 6500 rpms. I would not trust the cast bottom end for more than that. Also I wouldn't even think about much nitrous at all with those pistons. It should be a good 93 octane 400 to 425 hp engine. Carb upgrade may help a little also. Good luck
I want to add that a .040 over block will give you 385 ci. Make sure that you don't order .030 over pistons that go with the 383 package.
