View Full Version : Tpi conversion wiring
Does anyone have any ideas how to change or where to get a wiring harness for a 95' s-10 with a 4.3 (z vin) to a t.p.i. 350 out of a 88' t/a. Everything is in my truck now i just need to figure out the wiring or hopefuly buy a new harness that would work. Please dont tell me to carb. 350 my truck if i wanted a carb. My truck i wouldn't have bought the t.p.i. So can anyone help or atleast point me in the right direction?

Here is the problem. Current Performance will not work with TPI or older at all. There a couple that will create a stand alone harness, but will not run your dash. The second gen trucks have the ECM run the dash. You can get the engine to run with a harness, but you will have to do something different for the dash. That means run new gauges.
I know this one works. I had one in a buddys truck. The best choice is speed density and do away with the mass air.

I have an 85 s10 with a 95 camaro lt1. I got the gm service manuals for both vehicles and matched the wires and soldered them together. I'm still using the dash wiring. I got all new autometer gauges and wired them into my 85 s10 dash wires. as far as the speedo and tach I ran wires from the speed sensor and computer to the gauges. I got all the wiring and computer out of the 95 camaro. If you don't have that then it will be hard to find one that isn't cut up. there is no way I could of done it without those gm service manuals. I got the gm service manuals from a company called HELM.

I agree with cowkll, get the gm service manuals.I dropped a 87 tpi in a 87 4x4 s10 blazer, couldnt have done it without the manuals.(manuals for the 87 iroc and the blazer)I also had the ecm and the engine wire harness from the camaro, studied the manuals, traced the wires and spliced.Besides Helms for the manuals try www.autorepairmanuals.biz for used manuals .Good luck, let me know if I can be of any help.

www.howell-efi.com used to offer a reworked stock harness that incorporated the TPI wiring, but I'm not sure is they still do. It seems everyone is going LSX.

ok this will make me feel dumb but so if i run the firebird harness i just need to splice it so the guages work. so i would splice from after the computer in to the s10 dash wiring right? so if i match engine temp wires and splice and the same with the rest ???

you can order a book from summit or jegs . to wire up your TPI. JTR Publishing on Tbi and Tpi.
