I have a 87 2.8 blazer 2wd. When i am going down the road and stomp it the motor sort of cuts out and totally loses power... i have to let off the gas to get it back running smooth... also when it is in park is i stomp it and it doesnt do it as much but i get alot of black smoke... i am told that black smoke is un burnt fuel so i changed plugs and wires and cleaned up the throttle body real good and it hasnt helped AT ALL... if anyone could give me some pointers to help get it running smooth, it would be greatly appreciated. Just tryin to keep it running til i can afford the swap... prolonging the inevitable... thanks:confused:

There are a few things that can cause the problem, but LDZ91TPI, is probably right. The motor is probably tired. Does it have any blow by? If it does, it is worn out. Ya probably have the best idea, drive it till it dies and hope ya can do the swap before that happens.

if ya pull the pvc valve out of the valve cover with the engine running and ya have alot of smoke coming out, that is blow by. It is a sign of worn out rings
