Hey guys I just joined and I am all ready full of questions:confused: for my swap. I currently have an 03 s10 extreme with a 4.3 and 4L60E trans. I have all ready done some research into this swap and have small list of parts that I think will work for doing this. I have found a conversion computer harness from current performance out of florida. The motor mounts from here on s10v8.com store and the motor I will get from a local boneyard. My questions are how big of a radiator am I going to need? Will I have any issues with factory oil pan hitting any thing? and can I use the factory brackets and pullies of my 4.3 on the 6.0? One more questions for now is should this motor bolt right up to my stock trans and torque conveter? Thanks for any info on this!!:D

you should get f-body or better yet y-body accessories to clear

Hey guys thanks, but I still want to now if the 6.0 will bolt up to my 4l60e trans and stall converter. Plus I am not using a car motor, I am going to use one out of a truck, cuz they are a lot cheaper!!! So the next thing that I am wondering is if the stock oil pan on the 6.0 will clear my frame?

Probably won't clear the frame, don't know for sure. I think the only pans that clear are the Hummer / Colorado pans. There is a pan & kit for sale right here on THIS website! Check it out. You might be able to use the truck pan with crossmember surgery.

For this assessment I'm assuming you're talking about the 6.0 out of a pickup or SUV that is considered a Vortec motor and not an LS2.
This really depends on how wild the 6.0 would be but the 4.3 radiator would work, but I would watch your temps and not let the motor push beyond the 220 or so water temp and things should be fine. You can always upgrade to higher performance equipment as time passes. The factory oil pan will be very close with the pick up block you can either cut and reinforce the crossmember for clearance or buy the ls oil pan from this sight. You cannot use the factory brackets from the 4.3 the ls block are completely different than the 4.3 blocks the 4.3 uses a block based off the gen 1 SBCs on the pulleys I would suggest buying an F-body accessory system off and ls1 or even a corvette drive system if you can find them or even use the accessories off a pickup motor and use the pickup intake. The 4L60E transmission will bolt directly to the motor, but the torque converter will not. Most people will buy the motor and tranny together to get a slightly upgraded transmission over the 4L60E that came with the 4.3 that was only rated for like 200 or so HP max. Either way I've always been a fan of if you're going to upgrade the motor the tranny doesn't cost that much more to upgrade as well. Just my opinion.
Good luck and be sure to ask questions as they arise.

Hey thanks guys for all the good info.:D But I have found a nice way to fix my lack of horsepower. I figured out how to use sy/ty manifolds and push ten pounds of boost in my little 4.3 and make more at the wheels than a stock 6.0 truck motor would. Some day I would still like to put a v8 (with a turbo) in it but for now I will stick with the turbo on the 4.3!!
Again thanks for all the info guys
