I have been reading a lot here, and I can't figure out what spline my rear is. From what I can gather, I can have a 26 or 28 spline rear? Is this correct? How can I tell without taking out and axle. Sorry, just being lazy.

since 88 was the shemay year for s10/15 this is what i have seen over the years.
88 up 4.3 blazers 28-spline and 7 5/8

88 2.8 5spd and any 4.3 p/u had 28-spline 7 5/8

ultimately the besy way to know is to open it up, i am sure it needs fresh gear oil in there anyway

I am just being lazy. I have enough on my plate getting the truck lined out and running smooth. I am going to put in a gov-loc soon, so I was trying to eliminate one step before I tore it apart.

Rudedogg, so from your description all had the 28 spline 7 5/8. Mine was a 2.5 5 speed.
