I need to run a ground from my block to my frame, and from my block to my body I'm just not sure what gauge to use. I've also heard that is best to have a ground from my alt to my battery, and from my starter to the battery. Is this true?

Use a #2. One from battery to frame, one from engine to frame, and one from body to frame. Some people have to ground the core support too. You dont need to ground the starter or alternator, it is grounded through the engine block. If you use solid engine mounts you dont need to ground the engine.
