Ok so I boght a zexel posi unit followed one of the zexel write ups that i found. I was hoping i could use the stock shims and it would work out. no such luck. my issue is that it doesnt spin like the stock one and it will feel fairly good for about half a turn then the other half the turn it starts feeling tight like it is set to deep. So i thought maybe that differential got in there crooked but Im not sure how that would happen. This is my first time with differential setup any help would be great. I have a shim kit I just dont know how to measure backlash and all that.

if you have never done it before i would get someone over that has, and let them show you the ropes. you will have to have a dial indicator to set the backlash. you also have to set the pre-load on the bearings. if your pinion is running too deep in your ring gear you will have to add shims behind the bearing on the pinion. once you remove the pinion you will also have to have a new crush sleeve. here is a real good article.
