im on my third v8 swap. i have only used the shorty hedman headers. question is why now would the passenger header be hitting the firewall? never had the problem before. any suggestions or should i just get the hammer to make it fit?

What mounts you using, slide motor forward or down!

Did you set the motor on the higher set of holes on the motor mounts, so it sets lower or the lower holes so its higher? other than that hammer away at that lip

i cut the collector off and added a piece of 90degree 2.5 inch pipe cut it with a cheater angle and this gave me enough room to pass the fire wall and exit between the motor and frame rail than welded the stock flange back on no problems great clearance , no hammer needed only had to buy the 2.5 ball and socket ends since they come with only the two inch and we all know that is no good for a 500+ motor let me know if you need a picture and i will crawl under and snap a few for your reference I bet anyone with pipe and a welder will do this for free or very little i used stainless mand bent for the cheater.

its all the way forward and on the low side of the hole on mounts. i havent messed with trying putting it on yet, but im just gonna use my porta power and pursuade the firewall to move. its only about less than 1/2 inch from being where i want it.

hammer sounds like a great idea to me. knock tha hell out of it and a square peg will go through a round hole..

in picture number two it looks close to frame but if you look at picture 5 you see there is no clearance issues

thanks for the pics and i will try that on the next one. i never got a round to finishing harley boy. today i went around shopping for tool boxes. i ended up getting top and bottom 23 drawer husky pro boxes for 460.00 together. they were damaged some but was able toiron them out. they were originally 1250. not too bad in my opinion.

If you plan on installing the 700R4 transmission it would be better to cut the floor board and make a balloned plate to fit bolted in place under the carpet don't forget to put the heat shields back in also or you'll have really hot interior during the summer. transmission fliud leaks and exhaust clearance is the issue.

ive got it finished now and running but, i bought the accel distributor with the big fancy cap with coil and now i cant advance far enough with the wiper motor in the way. im just gonna use stock cap and get another coil. other than that i have the exhaust to get run and then on to body work and paint. thanks for the help guys. much appreciated.
