I went to my local track yesterday and had my 150hp shot tune in and was able to make it into the 9's. It's really high 9's but hey, it still counts. It wouldn't hold the trans break (tire spin) so I foot braked it and it managed to stick good enough to run the number

It's still a pretty conservative tune, but its as much as the track can handle 60ft wise, Muncie dragway is not know for a well prepped track

The first pass is on the transbrake (4800rpm) and n2o injects 0.100 into the run, it gets a little sideways then straightens up

The second pass is footbrake and n2o injects 0.050 into the run, 10% starting percentage to 100% in 1.700 seconds. 8* timing pulled. The truck goes nice and straight, almost boring, lol

Looks good!! Put a progressor on that bad boy!! It will leave a little softer if you don't purge the N20.

thanks for ridin along guys, lol. It's got a progressive controller oh_yo, but I might try not purging it so I can use the transbrake with the nitrous at my home track. I really need to go to a sticky track and try and cut a 1.38 60ft. I think on the brake and a little more aggressive nitrous tune it'll be there. I managed a 1.43 at milan last week but that was no n2o jus transbrake

Hey rayl and slimer, you guys are prob the fastest on the forum that I know of how much you guys spray to get in the 8's. I'm guessing a 250 or 300 shot isn't gonna get me 8's, but it'd be nice to run a mid 9 on a 250 pill.

I've never tryed without purging, I imagine it would kinda lag if it was a while between runs.

I really need to go to a nice track like Norwalk, my home track is never preped well. Most of my friends cut 2.0 or 1.9 60fts. and wonder how I do 1.4s, but I can still feel it spin some.

think if you go to a better track you will get low 9s?

I wouldn't make a pass without atleast purging the nitrous line. I like to purge both fuel and nitrous into the motor at about 3500 rpms to make sure I don't have an air bubble in the fuel or nitrous line. But every man has his own preference. Not purging the line to make it leave softer sounds like a chicken scratch way to do something to me. No offense intended Scott (oh-yo).

BTW Silver, nice runs. But the first video, I think the truck went where you drove it. Watch it in slo-mo when you are reaching for the brake button. You turn the wheel to the right just before the launch. Looks real fast. Can't wait to get mine back together.

nice run mang! cool vids too. I hope next year I can spray mine and run as fast as you.

BTW is that grass in the middle of the track? Wouldn't wanna drive through that! lol

I don't have any means of purging the kit into the motor, unless I rewire it, I think i'll just tune the progressive controller to what the track can handle, and just purge the nitrous line like usual, I crack the fuel feed line that goes to the solenoid to purge any air if it's been awhile since the kit was activated.

Plus I'm too chickensh*t to purge it into the motor, I've seen alot of guys do it but I usually have bad luck and it would prob just remove my hood for me while I was staging

I'll watch the vid again stroker, there maybe some error on my part, but all my transbreak launches that day resulted in the same outcome. . . . . tire spin, didn't matter if I used n2o or not, it was just too much "shock" for the track, and yes thats grass, believe it or not the track has really improved since 2 years ago, they fixed a bump in the middle of the track and they paved the return road, it was dirt/gravel

Harleyboy: I don't think I'll get low 9's with a better track just a better 60ft, that run was a 9.990 if it was a stickier track with a little more aggressive tune it mighta went 9.90 or 9.850. I think it would take a 300 shot (or more) to get me low 9's. My plate is rated for 300hp so time will tell what it's full potential is

Hey stoker1 you are def right I did really pull that wheel over alot, I didn't realize I did that, wow. Now I wanna go back and see if I can make it better, it always spun on the trans break, but thats the worst it's got sideways. Maybe I should try and launch it at 4000 instead of 4800 and see if it sticks.

Nice passes. A good preped track would be a HUGE benifit for you. I have the same problem with my local track. Poor prep. So I have to drive 30-45 mins further to go to a better track.

09-10-2009, 09:25 PM
theres plenty of tracks around me, but they are all 2 hrs (+) away, I don't want to drive even further away to end up at another slick track, even muncie is almost 2 hrs away from me, I want to go to Norwalk, I hear that track is the stickiest of em all.

Muncie prob is they only spray vht down 4 about 10 feet and let anybody on the track, no tech what-so-ever so all the oil and trans leaks drip on the track, and the wrong wheel drive guys drag their tires through the water and leave water tracks down in the staging lanes

Our track(Pittsburgh Raceway Park)is prepped very well on regular racing days, but not too good on TnT.Never been to Norwalk.Every year we swear we're gonna get there, only a couple hour roartrip from here. All my friends been there, they all say the same thing.Best and nicest track they ever been to.

i dont run 1/4 mile but i ran consistent 5.70s on one kit with about 225hp then if i turned the second gun on which was another 150ish it would run 5.50s.. what that is in quarter mile im not sure. IF i had to guess it may of went 8.80ish. My limitation was and has always been the 275 radial and my blazer wanting to flip over backwards. Its the only tire i ran. Ill step up to atleast a 295 this next go round.

well then I'm gonna have to make a trip to Norwalk then, Prob gonna have to be next year though, It's gettin late in the season. I'll post something before I go, and I'll put the big "hit" in it. Gonna have to see what it'll do on a 250 or 300 shot. I hope I dip into the 5's (1/8th) but that might be kinda hard to knock off over 3 tenths with only another 150hp.....we'll see

Thats jamin rayl, pretty good for a little 342. lol. Hey have you let the cat outta the bag yet? what are you doin for a powerplant? turbos?

Im not sure what im gonna do just yet. I have gotten an iron eagle block and some parts to build a 414" motor. The blazer is at the fab shop now getting some things done and when it gets done ill make a decision. Im not sure there is quite enough room to do a turbo or turbos correctly. But eh...who knows.

As far as your combo the harder you spray it the less its gonna pick up. If your convertor will go 4800 on the transbrake then im sure much more nitrous is gonna blow through it. Id also try to leave around 3500 on the transbrake and let the nitrous stretch the convertor on the hit and you will see a dramatic improvement in 60 ....if it hooks. Good hits regardless!
