So I have the hedman shortie s-10 swap headers but my new heads are 1 3/4" rectangle port darts 200cc intake runner heads. think the headers are 1 1/2" primaries or 1 5/8" with oval ports. The motor is a 385 stroker with the xe 284 comp cam 2300-6500 rpm. Are these headers going to choke my bigger heads? or just help with the lower rpm torque? this is primarily a street motor. thanks

It'll choke the heads. What I was told to do is make or buy a set of adapter plates (Stahl makes them)that funnel the exhaust down gradually instead of just bolting too small of a header to a larger exhaust port. It'll still choke it somewhat and create backpressure, but wouldnt be as bad as bolting them directly. My concern was clearance.

It wuill work with the 1 1/2 tubes--- but that motor may ba just a tad better with 1 5/8 or 1 /3/4 tubes which will make plug wire clearance somewhat of an issue. Street motor?-- try em !!!!

I just wanted to make sure it would not hurt my new motor. I do remember the tech guy at comp cams saying that switching to some 1 3/4 long tube headers would be a difference in power. Do you have to switch the motor mounts to run long tube headers? So what did you end up doing Xten? Oh and another thing I just obtained some used 2 chamber flowmasters from my neighbor. I am currently running some cherry bomb turbos. Do you guys think the flowmasters will sound better?

If your gonna make the switch, go long tube!! Make your money count.

keep the cherrybombs!!! unless the flowmasters are free and fit the same way, I think the cherrybombs sound a bit more rugged and mean, the flowmasters sound like they cost more :P but that was flowmaster 40's on a camaro (long tube 1 3/4 headders like you want)
