Hello all, lot of great info on this site. Here we go.
SO . . . I've eliminated the front differential in my '93. Got a 305 that's going to put in the work until I can pump up a 350. I'm also fabricating a front-end so there are no fenders, front core, grill, or bumper in the way. I also have the body and bed off the truck while I prime/paint the frame so I've got all the room in the world (and a big hammer for body adjustment). I'm trying to figure out the difference in the 4wd and the 2wd motor mounts. Since I've eliminated the front axles, driveshaft, etc. can I use the 2wd mounts (noticed they were less expensive). Thanks for your help. Couldn't find answer in existing posts. Late

i think the 2wd mounts keep the engine lower so the headders would hit the shocks in the 4x4

use 4wd mounts and headers, you shouldn't need the oil pan, so you save some $ there

The frame rails, control arm mountings and shock mounts are different. I wouldn't try to cut that corner, it may end up costing more in the long run. (Have to buy the other stuff anyways) With out the front diff, you don't need the oil pan

Excellent information. Could have learned all of this the hard way but it's so much better to tap into other people's experience. Thanks for the help. Sure I'll have more questions as this project evolves.

I have a similiar question. Im putting a 350 in an 01 Jimmy SLT and Im not going to change out the axle. do I need to buy a special oil pan to clear the front diff? I was told I might only have problems with the front axle not the diff...
