View Full Version : how to get that launch??? and what about my tranny and that honda won? why? help! me!

My 85 s10.

79 350 v8, th350 tranny, 10 bolt rear end (not sure if its a limited slip. Its not posi)
I've recently put a 4 barrel carb, a curve kit, lifters pushrods.

with that little bit being said. I had a list of questions like before:

Is there some sort of colum shift kit to make it easier to shift my colum shifter?
Website. Etc.

Is there a website where I can get all the plastic on the dash?
As well as, the door panels. Also the person before me replaced the passanger door that is equipped with power windows and locks. The truck dosent have power windows and locks. I need to find the manual window and lock "guts" for lack of a better word.

Last question. I got beat on the hwy today but a late 90s 4 door honda accord. When I floor it my pick just burns out off the line. Doing 45 like I was on the road I punched it and the honda just pulled away. Why???
How can I make this a thing of the past?
I finished the swap thinking id have an easy honda eatter.
(I got walked away from a 4 door mid to late 90's honda with shitty oversized groundeffects held on by sheetrock screws. It was auto with a cold air intake and a fin that came off a 747 lol!

Wow lots of open end questions. Well heres MY opionion:

1st 79 350 wa maybe 150-175 hp with a 4barrel in a vette. not real powerfull to begin with.

2nd Column shifter upgrade would be remove it and put in a floor shifter. This mod will only make it cooler and not go any faster.

3rd parts to make it look good: LMC website : http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cst/t.aspx
4th door parts. new stuff at lmc. used stuff at the junkyard. It would problubly be cheaper to pick up a whole (rotted) operational door for the window stuff. Tell the JK guy that you take a rotted door for less cash. (don't tell him you only need the inners... he charge you for the shell, glass and insides seperatly. big bucks out your pocket.
5th The honda beat you on the power to weight ratio. 100 horses in 1500lb car. and for you - 150 hp in a 3000lb truck. he has 75hp per 1000lbs. you have 50hp per 1000lbs. Also the weight distrubition in an s10 truck is terrible. the front weighs 70% more than the back. You can smoke the tires easy because its got no traction. Thier are things that you can do to help traction. Traction bars, 4link, slidealink, posi, locker the list goes on. Your best doing a search here for traction control devises.

6th Lots of things you can do to make it go faster. Fast cost cash. How fast do you want to go? heads cam intake carb exhaust, pistons. the list goes on.

Now trying to put a frown on but the honda is not apples to apples. Trust me I know. I got beat years back by a Focus in my Ram Air trans am!!! I am ashamed to admit it!!! But that was when big blocks were on thier way out and people were getting thier taste of rice. My buddy just finished a 3.5 swap in a civic. I am not a ricer but DAMMMMM my eyes poped out of my head when he open the hood!!! Vtec Odeysey motor...in a civic.
What is this world coming to????? Rice!!!

My wife drives a v6 accord.Its stock,and for what it is,flat out fast.267hp.A guy we know has a 93 accord station wagon thats painted brown and black with spray cans.It puts down 740hp at the front wheels.in essence,all Im saying is choose your battles till you get it sorted out!If it dont hook up,what good is even 150 hp?My first investment would be posi,and sticky tires.V8 s-10s can be very fast.Just gotta work at it.Nothing good is ever easy.Its rewarding when you make them faster and faster.

if you want a harder jump you could get the higher stall converter that comes with the v6 it has 7's around the rim, i can't keep anything in my truck withought it being held down and all i have are headders and ss monte carlo heads on a 78 camaro block
