Cooling Problems

purchased a Rad. from S10V8 found thier is an open port below filler cap is this for a coolant level sensor and were do i get one? went to auto stores and they don't know what i need

I think the port you are referring to goes to your overflow bottle

if it is like a 5/16 or a 3/8 opening then yes it is over flow connection or if it is like 2-3 inches down on the tank and a 5/8 opening then that is the heater hose connection

Yes that is for the coolant level sensor. A plug should have come in the box to plug it to use without the sensor. The pic below is a vette rad like you get from the site.

To Racer, the vette rad does not have a heater return port.

Lime he said, it shoulda came with the sensor just to plug the hole you dont need to hook it up.

plugging it is easier, especially if you aren't running the ECM

I think your probably talking about the coolant level sensor also, I would check the box real good if you still got it, what your looking for is a little plastic snap in thingy with an o ring seal and an electric probe in the center of it with a spade connector that sticks out on the outside when installed in the radiator, here is a picture of mine when it was under construction, you can see the sensor sticking out of the right tank on the vette rad, this sensor is usually shipped with the radiator loose in the box in a little plastic bag...

I actually made a little fluid sensor circuit that would hook to it and turn on a low coolant warning LED but decided it would be better to use it in the overflow tank, all I would have to do is install a fluid sensor in the overflow tank but I never did... :cool:

s10tahoe-Where did you get you're fan shroud from? Ive got the same fan but hate modifying a black plastic one from something else cause it looks like crap to me but yours looks nice...
