hey guys i just found this site and looks like shes pack'n a bunch of info on the shit i like.. to start off i have a few s10s mostly in the 4x4 scene. but i just happen to buy a 92 single cab short box with a sbc in it..i have always wanted to build one but for $1000 i couldnt help myself.. so a few months ago i blew the old tired 350 up and built up a new one with a few pony adders and lots of other fun adders

so now comes my new problem the truck came with a what i belive is a 5spd t5 tranny out of a 4.3 s10. the other day the bellhousing twisted off the motor. i havent yet pulled it out yet but i was wondering if i should just replace the bellhousing or look for a better tranny to swap into it? tranmissions are my weak point when it comes to trucks so any help would be great:D

thanks jake

Never heard of such a thing like that so I have to ask. Were all the bolts in it?

hey jake, welcome to the site.if i were you,i would go auto(th350,400,700r4)that is just my opinion.however,if you want to keep the 5spd you might want to see what went wrong with yours.from what i understand,4.3 5spd weren't too strong to handle a 350 or the like.look around in past threads (knantrup has an nv3500 on his and a hell of a write up on how to do it)also, consider upgrading your membership so you can post as much as you want,it's worth it.

thanks guys.. it looks like the tranny mount tore off the crossmember then the bellhousing twisted off the motor.. right where the bolts all are... damn 4g clutch drops must have done her in

so i found a 1985ish camaro 5spd in my buddys garage the other day for a case of beer. how do i tell witch tranny this is? it has a bolt on bell housing and a smaller flywheel that will not bolt onto the back of the 1pce main block i have in the truck right now.. i know i need do something with this fly wheel or get a conversion one but im not quite sure what path to take here.. thanks
