View Full Version : help choosing what motor to install

i have a 92 tbi 4.3l 4x4 chevy blazer. i want to install a 350. what i dont know is what motor year from what vehicle would be the easiest to install. i dont wanna have to modify to much and would like a fairly straight foward install. any help or ideas would be great. thanks.:confused:

My guess would be a old style small-block--carbed

i would find a tbi 350 from either a truck or suburban that way you can retain all of oyur wiring and fuel lines and what not and not have a bunch of stuff to cut out but that is your choice

To swap a 8 in 4x is a bit more work than in a 2wd. There basicly the same as for cutting rad and massaging the firewall. Some of the 4x's have a crossmember under the bell housing that may need to be modifed. Its all acording to the swap parts you have. Not every build is the same. The tbi is supposed to be almost an easy swap. Read through some of the threads and you gain some knowledge on t he issues of tbi. A carb set up is old school easy. Many people don't like the idea of have a big toilet bowl on top of thier motor dumping presious fuel down the drain.
Me...I use a carb easy, fast reliable.

:naughty:it would be good to get a 70 block they are made with a better melt just dont get a mex block
