Just picked up a cherry LS1 engine with 15K on it for 1000.00. The guy gave me a 6.0 litre intake with it. What is the better manifold the 6.0, or would you stay stock? Dan

OK it looks like the LS1 isn't such a good idea. The bottom end needs work, and I'm not into building this thing. However, how would the LS1 heads, and 6.0 intake work out on a 5.3, or a 6.0 block?

* Heck, if it needs some work on the bottom end, why not do the work? Unless of course, it is totally wasted.
* If you got a 6.0 motor or short block, I'd be looking for L92 heads, better on an 6.0 than the LS1 heads.
* Yeah, the 5.3 might be an option.

The 5.3 was my first choice because they are relativly inexpensive. I picked up this LS1 and was told to make sure the bottom end was torqued, and it was good. I pulled the heads for some port work, and noticed a little rust in #1 and #7. I thought no biggie, I'll just re ring it. I toar the engine the rest of the way down, and the cam berings have alot of wear, #5 main journal has a gouge, and has ate the bering up pretty good, and I cannot get the high spot out of the cylinders with a hone. All of this can be adressed with a build, but I really wasn't into building an engine. I'll have to think about it. Dan
