Getting my 91 parts ready for the conversion, wanted to know about drop spindles and springs, mine has a 2,5l in it now, going with a 350, want a nice front drop at least 4". Do I have to put drop springs (2"-3")in it with the drop spindles,or can I get away with just the spindles,or just the springs. The springs are cheaper, just trying to save some money where ever I can on this project, any infromation would be great,Thanks Todd

Things to watch out for when doing the drop. The 2.5 springs have a lower softer spring rate than the 4.3 springs. If you are looking for 4+ inches of drop, I suggest the 4.3 3" drop spring with the drop spindles. That would give 5" and maybe a bit more with the added weight. The thing to watch is with the drop spindle, the backspacing of the wheel. On wheels 16" and smaller with 4.5" bs will have issues with the ball joints for the steering linkage. I have stock spindles and 16" with 4.5" bs. The wheel is within 5/16" of the ball joint. When you move the spindle up to drop the truck, the ball joint will interfere.

I would not go any lower than 3" with replacement springs only. You will severely throw your alignment out if not. JMO

My 89 has the 1500 payload springs, the 2" drop spindles and the V8 dropped the front 3", any more than that you get into suspension interference.
