casting numbers for blocks

i checked on the driver side of the motor under the head right above the bell housing and came up with an 8 digit number...that the right number to get the block size, year etc.?

yes there are 6, 7, and 8 digit numbers. just go to www.mortec.com/castnum.htm to look them up

yes mortec is the place also on the passenger side of the deck in front of head are two more numbers that go into more detail . and just because a number ends in 010 does not mean 4 bolt main all the time

thanks, that helped out. i thot it was 1001 but the last one looked kinda funny because of all of the grease and such that was over but i found the one that matched up, to the rest of what i pulled and it ended up being a 5, dunno how i got it confused lol. but its a 2 bolt 350. thanks
