ok, so me and my buddy derek swapped out the master cylinder on his 95\' 1500 today. we bench bled the cylinder and installed it on the truck. we bled out the whole system and fired it up. the pedal was real spongy. so we shut it off and bled it like this: both lines at the master cylinder, both lines at the inlet of the ABS unit, all 3 lines at the outlet of the ABS unit, passenger side rear, drivers side rear, passenger side front, drivers side front.

we fired it up again and the pedal still felt slightly spongy but there was a pedal. we tested it in the parking lot and it was stopping pretty good. we took it down the road and stood on em from 25 and then again from 55. it stopped in a hurry and the ABS came on, in fact it stopped a hell of alot better than it used to. but the pedal is low. is it just the new master cylinder? or might there still be air in the system?

On that system, one of the things recomended is to hook the abs unit to a computer and have it run 4 cycles with moderate pedal pressure. This bleeds the air form the inside of the abs unit. Then do a total 4 wheel bleed again. throughly. That will get tthe las t of the air out of the system.

You may want to check the adjustment on the rear brakes, they might be out also though.

Space.

also dont overlook the fact that those trucks just flat out have a spongy pedal. I work at a Chevy dealership but drive a ranger to work and have always wondered how folks could deal with that spongy ass pedal.
