i know its possible to over carb a motor. for example puttin an 1150 cfm carb on a motor when you only need a 660. so is it possible to over intake a motor? (if that makes any sense)

Yes it is sir. Just like everything else you do to your motor, the intake has to match the needs of it.

I personally always like calling the pro\'s on questions like this. This, like the cam or torque conveter can make your package a reall dog.

200cc will be fine for a 406ci. Just make sure you use a big enough cam to take advantage of all the airflow potential. Probably something in the 240 duration @ .050 range
I wasn\'t aware they made the vortecs with a 200cc runner.
195cc AFR heads are very common on 350-383s. Many guys with well built 400s use 210 or 220 even.

it depends a lot on the heads. it also depends on what you\'re going for. Do you want a nice lumpy idle? Are you willing to give up some torque for high end hp? Street truck or racer?
I have a comp solid roller I could sell you. It\'s almost brand new and specs out around 236/242@ .050 with about .560\" lift. I will find out exact specs if you\'re interested.

GMPP actually sells a 206cc vortec design head and a 210cc vortec design head. If you are looking for something in the \"middle of the road\".

i found out this weekend that the brodix HV1000 was either to big or didn\'t flow as good as my vic jr with a 2\" spacer . killed 3 mph at the top and .2 et . i had the carb off trying to rejet , went from lean to rich no change. only good part is that i barrowed the intake and can give it back

Are you planning on making a street/strip truck or is it race only? Try the air gap rpm intake for street strip and the victor for strip. Also, for the street strip truck, I would recommend going to a hydraulic roller. The solid roller uses extremely high spring pressures that could be a problem on the street. Eating a roller lifter and cam sucks. Just make sure that the cam, intake, and converter match the rest of your combo. Doug Herbert sells hydraulic roller cams at about the cheapest around. Some of his grinds are older but still work quite well. What you really want is a cam that makes good cylinder pressure and will still rev to the rpm that you need. Let me know if I can help you pick the right combo.
