is this a good deal? it\'ll leave me about broke with nothing to do to it, but if i don\'t starting tossing money at car parts, i\'m gonna end up spending it on things like a electric guitar and other non-essentials. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif i\'m looking for the cheapest way to do a conversion, a 305 supposedly fits better (accesories anyway), gets better gas mileage, etc. my truck has a TBI though, so is a FI conversion difficult or should i just get a new gas tank and fuel pump? sorry for rambling, here\'s the engine;
I saw this on eBay motors: Rebuilt 305 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7992154337)

well it looks like he has sold used motors before from his feedback and it looks good. shipping would be hell but it looks like you both are in the same state so if you can go pic it up or even go look at it before you buy it then that would be good too. all the odds and ends will be expensive but it would be worth it if you have a place to store the engine out of the weather while you wait to put it in. if you want to keep the EFI i have a factory TBI intake you can have and i know of some one that has a ecm and holley projection TBI unit for $75. or just go carb? but then you got to get everything else. and the 305 and 350 fit exactly the same.

the 305 will accept the same brackets and accessories as any other smallblock. gas mileage will be better but what fun is that? personally, if your going to go through with the swap i would say the 383 would be te way to go. i know its not original but theres a reason there is so many of them. theyre affordable, powerful, and the extra cubic inches will get your tires movin quicker

It sounds like a decent deal, but if I was you I would just hold out for a 350. Either one is going to fit the same, if you keep your eyes open you will be able to find a 350 as complete as that for around the same price. They are both going to be gas guzzlers, maybe slightly more so with the 350. But if you are going to go through all the trouble of doing this swap, you are probably gonna want to get on it anyway, and a 350 is DEFINATELY more fun than a 305 for that kind of driving. I dunno, I\'m just not a fan of 305s at all. Just my 2 cents I guess. But I feel your pain with being unable to save.....I had to buy pretty much every part 4 my swap on impulse, because I\'m HORRIBLE at saving money.

For that kind of $$$. You could call Advance Auto, or Auto Zone and get a price on a \"new-reman\" crate motor. I believe my niehbor just bought a 305 from them for $699. + tax. IT also came with a 30k warrenty.
27k is used. Ask him what was done to it inorder to \"rebuild\" it. Was it bored w/pistons or just a rings, and gaskets..\"refreshed\". According to what was done to it, I would think about the $$$ before I\'d spend more than $300 on a used motor.
Just my 2 cents though...
Space.

I don\'t have anything against a 305. If you already had one I would say run it. BUT, if you are going to buy a motor you may as well buy a 350. Like was mentioned, you can find a 350 for that price and I agree with space, you can buy a remanufactured long block for that price with warrenty.

thanks guys. i really like the idea of a 350 more, but the conversion manual always talks about the camaro 305 and says its better with air coditioning and matching up accesories with the 2.8, but they fail to mention why or how to \'\'adjust\" a 350.
i also need to check on a built 350 in my area, it was going for $500 but i didn\'t have the money at the time and it\'s probably gone now http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif
anyway thanks for the advice. i\'m gonna have to think on it, cuz i\'m going to be taking a lot less hours now with school starting.

As far as accesories go, if it fits the 305 it will fit the 350. They are the exact same block on the outside.

do you think NAPA will sell 4.3 parts cheaper than 350, even though they\'re the same? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
