Got the truck fired up Fri night/Sat Morn about 12:45 then took it for its first pass on Saturday morning. ran 12.98 by sunday with consitant 13.00\'s on the fresh motor. I know that this doest sound great but my engine only has stock 882 heads and a set of flat tops, with a decent cam 507/510 but my heads are really holding me back. My fenderwell headers are also much too large for 882 heads. but I\'m just happy to have about 8 or 9 passes on it and that its finally running.

My small powered engine is also pushing a 9\" ford and 31x14 slicks. so all in all I was happy with the results and I think that when the engine loosens up a bit, High 12\'s will be a great place to get some seat time and get used to racing. (I\'m only 22 and my last ride was a 14.3 musta$^# 5.0)...gag!

with a little more seat time, your numbers will most likely go down....

Got to race again tonight and went a new personal best without changing a thing except taking off my K&N. I went 12.75 at 104MPH, my 60\' was 1.743 and my 1/8 mile was 8.092, let me know what you guys think.

man pulling a 12.7 and with 882 heads. not bad at all. i bet it pulls hard from a dead stop? good luck with it. hey christmas is right around the cornor. tell all you family and freinds to give you money this year so you can get yourself another set of heads. LOL then you might be tappin on some high 11\'s?

Those are some tall tires on that thing. Almost identical times here and I got good heads. lol I got new headers on yesterday and it feels a lot different so we will see Friday night.

Thanks guys, yeah I know they\'re tall but I will eventually go to a steeper gear. Right now I have 4.10\'s so I\'m only going through the traps around 5000 rpm it really needs probably 5.13\'s or so. I\'m not overly concerned with getting some heads right away. My father blew up his 355 at the last meet and he has a nice set of fully ported bowties with 2.055/1.6 Manley severe duty valves and a Super Victor intake. I think this winter I may try to convince him to go Big Block as we have 3 good blocks and a wicked set of 990 heads that were once owned by long time Superstock racer John Armstrong on his record breaking 69 Camaro. They went 10.39 on our friends street 79\'Malibu so I think with a little convincing over the winter I may have a nice top end setup for my truck http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Do you have any pics of how your frame was narrowed? I am thinking about doing the same

I have pics of the frame but not the actual narrowing process. However, the guy who built my rear end explained how he did his frame and I believe mine was built in the same manner.

First you will need 2 frames. One, he put in place on jackstands and he then cut the back of the second frame and built the narrowed section inside the original using the original as a jig. I tacked it all until he was done and then cut away the original frame from the new narrowed one that lay inside it. does this make sense? You should be able to get another frame from any salvage yard pretty cheap. buy using an original as the jig it lets you measure for things like the box mounts etc so that when you are done the box should bolt right on, NO guessing.
