Question.

I am using a narrowed Ford 9 inch.

Is there much difference using a clutch type posi like the Ford Traction lock vs the Detroit locker mechanical locker when drag racing?

How well does the factory clutch type traction lock unit hold up?

I\'ve got the Traction Lok in my 8.8 with doubled up clutches, 3.73s, stock axles and differential. It withstands regular bottom 1.7s N/A and low 1.6s/high 1.5s spraying without a whimper.

This is after about 50,000 miles have been put on it too. (Rest of rearend has not quite 200,000mi on it.)

If you\'ll see little to no street action, get a spool. They\'re cheap and strong.

ANYBODY OUT THERE HAD ANY EXERENCE USING A SPOOL ON THE STREET?

I plan to do very little street driving mostly just to the track.

I have a ford 9 inch with 31 spline axels.

ya, i have a spool.. my truck sees the street.. its NOT a big deal.. my tires dont chirp, or chatter .. it just likes to fight you when you try and turn http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif u can forget about turning at speeds over 20mph http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif when i say turns.. i dont mean intersection 90degree turns i mean ... lame ass.. twisty turny roads .. but its REALLY fun to drive and it is a BILLION times more reliable than a posi.. too many clutches and springs and shit inside that can break. a spool is just a fricken peice of steel.. and both tires will ALWAYS spin.. With great power, comes great responsibility.

Ok let me decipher that!

You said that after 20mph you don\'t notice any difference with the spool http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

But below those speeds it will fight the steering http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

What type of real axel are you using?
