Hey,

Kinda have a problem here. Ive got an edelbrock performer 600 carb w/ electric choke on my 350. I noticed that i heard an air leak, and when i got in to inspect, i could move the throttle shaft on the passenger side. When i moved it, the air leak went away. I was wondering if anyone elses carbs did this, and if that could maybe cause pinging at mild throttle, although i had it sniffed and it was perfect. Thanks.

that air leak is probably the carb just sucking in the air. the pinging could be because your timing or maybe try changing jets. its real easy on that carb.

i know its not just the carb suckin in air. I can hear the regular air entering, and then there is that hissing around the throttle shaft. When you move the shaft a little, the hissing quits. Also, why would changing jets fix the pinging, too much gas???

check timing first then jets like maybe it leans out at part throttle or something.. im not a carb guru just some advice that helped me.

i have seen other edelbrocks do this the bushing for the throttle shaft wears and the shaft came move to much i beleave it can be replaced good luck--but i doubt with would cause your ping check timing
