What ever you do if you go Fiberglass dont by an unlimited....You will spend even more money in finishing the hood than if you spent the extra and bought a Harwood! Mine is a POS. I had a GoodMark Cowl hood and that thing was awesome! So awesome that someone stole it right off my truck in the middle of the night!

have you thought about just getting the cowl itself and put that on ur existing hood? That is what i plan on doing, and i just bought a 5\" cowl for $65 off ebay. just a thought

Yeah, there is apparently a lot of JUNK stuff out there. Like One_Low, I keep hearing that Harwood is the best bet. If on a tight budget, you might consider 89Blaze\'s thought. To save further, if you install it carefully, maybe you can leave the original paint on the hood, and just paint the cowl flat black, or white, or whatever might look good with your truck.

If this is for the black S10 you have a picture of, you will not be happy, in my opinion, unless you go Harwood. The quality and fit are perfect.

i paid $500 for my harwood. i think it looks real good. but i did have a freind that had a cheaper hood (2\") cowl on his truck. it looked good after prep and paint. but the brackets didnt fit to good. he had to bend them to make the hood open and close right. the harwood is well worth the money.

If you dont need the clearance for your aircleaner and you want a cowl look Buy a Goodmark! Everything fits to a T your washers hinges latch.and they have the GM stamp! 100% fit. if you want Fiberglass dont settle for anything less than a Harwood..I know I am repeating my self but I had a 4\" harwood on an Irock fit perfict I had a goodmark on a 94s10 PERFICT and now I bought that stupid unlimited and I am so upset but I am stuck with it and have lots of prep work to do!!!
If you are going ot do it...DO IT RIGHT AND SAVE THE EXTRA MONEY!

I have an unlimited. I prepped the hell out out it na dhad it painted and it looks okay but htee is the passenger side rear corner that sits too high no matter what you do. I say spend the money on a harwood. I went unlimited because I got a good deal direct from them and didnt have to pay shipping.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Harwood hoods and a lot of bad things about Unlimited. The Harwoods seems to be the best ones out there. I just could never get up the cash to buy one (pricey).
I did buy my scoops from Unlimited and installed them myself on stock hoods. I\'ve done three so far, the third one being a 5\" cowl on my truck now. I know this is not for everyone, but if you have the time and can do a little bump & paint, you can save a ton of money. The 5\" cowl cost me about $125 ( i think??) and I spent about 8 hours on prep and paint. Just an option for you D.I.Y. guys http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Cervini\'s has good glass as well. I had one of their ram air hoods on my blazer.
My trucks got a hardwood now, fit good, but the hinges were a little long for some reason. Hood wouldnt open all the way, I had to trim some of the aluminum hinge to get it to open more.
Fiberglass is good quality and fit though.

I guess I opened a big can of worms with that question. Really, the reason that I\'m wanting to go to a cowl hood is to add a 1 inch carb spacer and to fit the edelbrock elite triangular air filter on it. So, I can\'t go with the goodmark b/c it offers no extra clearance. I guess I\'ll have to suck it up and buy a harwood.

If your spending the money on a hood, get a real air cleaner to go with it. I have read about those things causing fires.

I think you miss read what I wrote. I\'m planning on using an \"elite\" series. It comes w/ a K&N air filter that is 3 inches tall. It happens to be triangular for eaiser clearance for the HEI distributor. I think you are talking about the \"pro-flo\" series triangular that uses a foam filter and a wire mesh cover.

Your right, I saw \"triangular\" and was instantly concerned becasue I lost my truck to a fire...

My cowl hood is a Goodmark, but I cut out the center \"X\" support underneath for more clearance. If you check out my pics, you should be able to see how I cut it. I kept the entire perimeter supports and the hood seems to have enough \"creases\" in it that it stays supported pretty well. I haven\'t had any problems at all with it.

i opened the front of mine up and made a box around the air cleaner. so it only gets air from the front of the hood and off the windshield

How much work is it to install a cowl on my hood? Might be a better option than a harwood \'cause they are almost a thousand bucks up here in canada buy the time you add all the taxes and shipping!! I need the minimum of 4\'\'. I\'m running a vitor junior with a 2\" spacer. I don\'t like using the drop air cleaners.
