well guys my otherS10 is a reg cab 2.2L 4 banger/5speed. I was wondering what the tow rating on these is. Reason is im going to buy a 16\' trailer and tow my truck. I dont want/cant afford another truck when ive only had this one for a year(bought it used). It only has 50K on it. Im thinking 4,000 LBS max, it will probally be less then that. Truck is around 3,000 plus whatever the trailer is. If not what can i do to this truck to get a few more ponies out of it? im not looking for a ball of fire just something that will make it up a hill. any help will be appreciated.

Good luck on towing with it. I don\'t think it will last very long. Sorry. I put the sbc in mine just for towing and plowing. The factory didn\'t offer a tow rating with the s10s. THey considered personal pick-ups and not work trucks. My blazer hauled the race car, trailer and parts overall @ 4500lbs. If there is any hills the 2.2 is going to be very under powered, The speed on approach, hill lenght and grade will determine wheater you get to the top or not. In mine It had more than enough power to get to the top, It was going down the oter side tha t was a little scary. My blazer weighing in @ 3500 lbs was being pushed by a 4500lbs trailer. Altough it has its own breaks, Its still nerve wreckign.

thank space. I might sell it and buy something else to tow with. Or if not my uncle has a chevy 1500 with a * and a 4.3.

if it was a 2.5 i would say maybe but man those 2.2 are weak. 4.3 will get you there 305-350 will get you there quicker

My 96 dime had a 2.2 and I had a hard time towing my ex girlfriends caviler on a car dolly, straight line was ok but the hills were hell.

A full size would make life easier for you. Thats what I bought. My only downflaw to that is that I had to rebuild it alomost inorder to use it. My full size is an 86 k30 single wheel with 4:11. It sucks more gas down than any other vehicle I\'ve owned ii n the pas t 10 years.6-8mpg going down hill with the wind pushing!

For what it is worth, when I was younger, My dad and I started messing around with car auctions and we had a 92 S-10 2wd with a 4.3 and a 5spd. Point is that we towed a tandam axle car trailer with it many, many times and the only problem we had was tearing up u-joints.

I\'d say if it was a 2.5 like what I had in my truck before i did the swap it would do an ok job cause I towed with mine for 2 years with a 2.5 4cyl and a 4 spd and it did exceptionally well for what it was.
