I\'ve got a cheap one that came with my truck that I\'m replacing but you wouldn\'t want it. It is home made with 2 pieces of plywood and some sort of black vinal covering.... I ordered my new one from summit for 160.00..... I\'ve read somewhere on here that one of the guys picked one up on ebay for like 50.00..... good luck

An upholstery shop would be able to hook you up. Most fabric stores I\'ve seen don\'t have wide enough vinyl to cover the whole thing. I bought my Checkmate flush mount hinged vinyl cover straight from the factory for something like $150ish. It\'s not super nice, but it works for what I need it for.

Skeeter Im in the process of building one for my truck and Ive found several places on the net that carries 78\" wide tonneau material like this one on ebay..

Sorry to whore the post, but is there a website for checkmate?

I\'ve got a covercraft one, that i\'ve had for just over a year, and it\'s already ripping, and the stitching is coming out. I\'m very unhappy with it. I\'d like to look into getting a new tonneau cover too. I\'d also like a cap to use during the winter, but finding a cap for a long box is hard.

Thanks

Well skeeter, here\'s my take on it. you could go buy yourself some \"cheap\" plywood/OSB, buy some \"cheap\" vinyl to cover it with and that is just whit is going to look like...\"cheap\"

This will still probably run ya close to $100 with the wood, vinyl and whatever brackets or hinges you\'ll need to mount it with.

or you can go out and buy a \'good\' tonneau cover for around $150-$200 and have it on in less than an hour and all your stuff will be covered and you won\'t have one of those....Danm, I cut that to short!

episodes.

Just my 2 cents folks,

Jeff.....

I have the Downey SST tonneau cover. I really like the way it fits. You can see it in some of my pictures. It is a soft cover that uses bows for support. It uses square snaps that snap into a square channel. You don\'t have to try an line the snaps up, just push down the snaps anywhere on the channel and it snap in.

You can get them about anywhere. Ebay, Summit, styling concepts, ect. They are good name brand so most places sell them.

I had a Downey SST on my \'98 Sonoma and loved it. It was a little pricier than some others, but the quality is good and the rails that grimpuppy described are about the best system I\'ve found. I wanted a hinged one for my \'85 because of the fuel cell, but otherwise I would have gone with one of those again.
