on my 92 S10 what is the black box that hangs on the side of the master cylinder? Does anyone know? looks like all the wires are going into the perprtioning valve. My truck doesnt have ABS. I want to cut it out and throw it away...i converted it over to manual brakes anyways...can i get rid of it?

Yup!!!
ABS brakes!!!! Your truck has REAR abs.
The black box is the abs computer and the wires go into the RABS valve.
The abs will still work even with a manual brake master. If it works still I would just leave it. Especially if its a daily driver.

I believe that is a relay. Maybe a fuel pump relay?

I believe the box in question is the rear ABS controller and can be seen in this picture.C:\\Documents and Settings\\Dad\\My Documents\\My Pictures\\Sony Mavica Picture\\Sony Mavica Picture 043.jpg

Was it screwed to the firewall or bolted to the master cylinder? What the picture shows is a relay. There are two on the firewall ABOVE the master cylinder. One is the fuel pump relay and the other is A/C compressor relay.

I took mine out and it stops fine. I think it also helps when you have a load in the truck.

thanks guys that what i was talking about the box on the side of the master cylinder. I switched from the factory drum rear to a disk rear anyways. Its not a daily driver and is mostly a strip truck with occasional street diving like if i drive it to and from the strip. The relays are for the fuel pump. i ditched those alont time ago when i redid the fuel sytem. All the fuel pump relay does is engage for 10 seconds when the truck is first started so the fuel pump works. If not you will have to crank the truck until you build oil pressure before it would start. Everyone says its safe to ditch it so im gonna cut that sucker out. Thanks guys
