I really would need your exact cam specs to give you a more educated guess. Advertized duration number can be taken at whatever lift that the company trying to sell the product wants to. So they use whatever they think will make a number people will buy, advertized duration is nothing more than marketing...

If I had to guess, I would guess 375-400HP, your real limiting factor is your heads at this point. That intake will hold back a few ponies too.

Unless youve milled the heads significantly or are using thin head gaskets your compression is probably more towards 9.8:1-10:1

I had almost the exact setup. 350, flat tops, double hump heads, decent sized cam and I ran 13.24@ 107MPH although I hadnt put any effort into traction aids at the time. All my money had gone to the engine. I was young and uneducated.

here are the specs off of the cam card : gross valve lift is .525---- duration at .o5o for intake and exhaust is 250.. also i have a set of 400 heads that i was running and i have a edelbrock performer rpm intake do you think it would be better to run either of these? thanks for the fast response

I should have read this before I answered your other post about the intakes.... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

......... Anyway, I\'m thinking like Truckman, your heads are your weak link. And, because of that, I\'d say to use the Performer RPM, at least until you get better heads. The Victor won\'t start showing an advantage until after the heads begin holding you back. Don\'t get me wrong, the heads are good, just not up to par with what\'s available today.

.......... Make sure you\'ve got valve springs matched to the cam\'s capability. If you plan on keeping the heads, you might consider toning down the cam grind a notch.

hybrid here is my 2cents not that its worth anything! i halve a buddy that is running basicly the same setup. he has the 461heads with 1.90\\1.60 valves and is running a hydraulic flat tappet cam around the same specs as your cam. with the victor jr and he is running 11.30-11.40 1/4mile 7.30-7.40 1\\8 mile in a 85 s-10 shortbed. now i halve basicly the same set up with a 383 bottom and the block is 60 over. my heads are 462 with 1.90 1.60 valves and a victor jr intake! i am also running 1.6rockers as you are. i ran my s-10 blazer for the first time two weeks ago. i made four runs before i broke the axle. it ran off the trailer with noooo tunnigggggg at all7.40 7.30 7.35 i broke on the fourth run. it had a 1.53 1.55 1.57 60ft time.the point i am trying to make is those heads and that intake do work well together with that cam. i heard the same thing to much cam to much intake for the 300 heads.run the 300 heads with the victor intake and i think you will be happy.that is a good combo when the cashflow is low!!!!! i would go to a dual valve spring though that 525lift you halve with 1.6 rockers is going to be around a 560. it was about 50.00 to halve my heads cut for the bigger springs. comp cams 986 springs. and i agree with truckman 375/400 hp good luck!
