View Full Version : 8.5 in. 10 bolt
I probably won\'t have enough money to buy an 8.5 inch out of a newer s-10, so is there any other GM vehicles that you can swap a rear from without having to narrow it any? Maybe a late 70\'s Camaro or Nova? I can change the spring perches and everything, but won\'t really have the money to have the rear narrowed and have axles made and everything. If there is a rear that is close to being the same width I\'ll make it work. Let me know if there is any. Thanks.

Nope. Nothing that I know of. A ford exploder is supposed to be close.

S10 rear axles are 48\"flange to flange on a 2wd,all camaros/firebirds are 54\" so your options are slim.

switching to a camaro diff or a nova diff serves no real gain, they aren;t much stronger than the stock s-10 diff, they\'re actually pretty close to the same, the 82-up camaro/ firebirds have the identical carrier as the s-10\'s so they are the same strength

My Currie enterprise receipt says here that the overall lengtrh of my rear end is 54.5\" and that is a stock S-10 length rear. Drivers side axle length is 26.25 and Passenger side axle length is 26.25, so theres no way it can be 48.. ? Just out of curiousity where did you hear it was 48\" rudedogg? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
Oh, yea and while im here i might as well share prices with you since your looking for a rear. My 12 bolt housing from Currie was $449 and the axles were $340. And they beat Mosers price.. by a pretty good margin.
