Should be getting my motor out of the shop within the next 2 weeks. Now i am looking for a TH350 to put with it. I checked around town and was told that they could build me one for around $600. I was thinking, heck i could get a TCI Street Fighter for just a little more. Has anyone on here ordered a TCI or B&M tranny from Jeg\'s? If so how did it work out for you? Is the TCI Street Fighter a durable tranny for the street. Any help is greatly appreciated. I just don\'t want to give a fella $600 when i could possibly get a better tranny for just a little more. Thanks, Buzz http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

most of the time local shops use the same internals as the top brand names. the benefit of local built is a place to take it if something goes wrong with the unit. you would not have to pay shipping costs either way. plus you will help your local economy by buying services locally.

If you have someone local who would build you a transmission for less than what you can get one from jegs, then whats the problem. The \"street fighter\" is nothing more than a basic rebuild with stock parts, decent clutches, and a shift kit. By all means go with the local guy. If you have problems you can zip it byt here and let them take a look at it. If the TCI gives you any problems, your pulling it out, shipping it to TCI. Just for the record, i rebuilt a th350 2 weeks ago for best friend. We used all new redline clutches and steels, new seal kit, new bushing kit, hardened races, and shift kit. Parts were 250 bucks. Add labor and it gets rediculous. 600 is a good deal.

Thanks for the replies. Y\'all are right, i don\'t want to have to ship it back to them. The other fella ain\'t but about 5 miles from the house. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

just so you know, I\'ve got a TH-350 in the garage that I lost reverse in.... you can have it if you are willing to drive from cookville to clarksville.

I\'d suggest the local guy also. You can sit and pick the parts to install. The tci unit is a \"mass produced or reproduced unit\" The local guy can climb behind the wheel and say \"yup it broke\" or yup I can adjust it just 5 minutes\" But the out town unit doesnt work correctly your ripping it out and sending it back.

Local built for all the reasons listed above.I have a th350 that was locally built with stock parts and B&M kit the car got t boned and I bought the trans as soon as it hit the yard for $200.It does a real good job and hits hard on both shifts http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif

i just ordered one of the jegs brand transmissions for my s-10.i have had it installed for about a month now.i was a little worried at first, because it did not have the tci,or b&m name on it,but dont let the name fool you.i am VERY VERY happy with this tranny.its shift like hell, and i put through ALOT of abuse with my 400sbc.the tranny is worth every penny, and it even has a drain plug installed.monster motorsports also builds a tuff azz tranny, and alot of times has free shipping.i have ordered from them in the past also.

i dunno about monster motorsports i went through 3 of their 700r4\'s before i finally gave up. Broke all three of them and they made me pay for shipping to send it back to them both times i did send it back. Last time it broke i sold the tranny for $150 just to get rid of it....
