If I were to install a vortec fuel injection system from a 98 automatic tahoe onto a 98 motor (currently carbed) will it work with a 700r4? I know the unit will work on the motor but is there anyway to trick the unit to think that everything is alright with the tranny? I am sure that the tahoo probably had a 4l60e, maybe 4l80e. But will the fuel injection system work at all with the 700r4? I have a great deal in front of me but I dont want to go through the money or work if it wont work. Please help me as fast as you can. Thanks
Brad

What about possible having the computer reprogrammed to a manual tranny configuration? Is that possible? Does it cost alot to do this?

I would think it would work without it. It may set a check engine light for the plugs being unhooked on the tranny though.
why wouldnt it work? like spaced said it will prolly set codes for the trans sensors being unhooked.

I think im going to pass it up. Im stressing alot now from school anyways. The last thing I need is to tear apart my toy and it not work. Thanks for the help. Maybe a wrecked 96 up 5.7 will come around with a manual and I can strip everything from it. Thanks guys.

get a stand alone ecu to control the injection you already have and not worry about the need for the trans signal a factory pcm wants. holley, accel, speed and marine or any of the others out there that sell the stand alone controllers.
im confused on what you think the injection has to do with the transmission. Even a manual shift is gonna output speed sensor if its equipped with ABS. The pcm uses info from the motor to control shifts, it uses nothing from the transmission to control any part of the motor functions. You will have the same motor function regardless of transmission

why not get the computer out of a 98 pickup with a manual trans? thatll work. take the wires for the clutch switch and splice em into the p\\n switch
or get the valve body off of a 4l60 so it dont throw codes. all a 4l60 is is a 700r with an electric valve body.
