i have alot of little questions. i pulled the serpintene set up off the 92 today along with all the A/C parts. i put it all together in mine (test fit) to see how the condesor and 4.3 radiator would fit along with the 4.3 water pump.
.
1. will the 4.3 radiator keep my V8 cool?
.
2. will 2 10\" fans in the front (engine side) pull enough air through the condesor and radiator to keep the temp right at idle?
.
3. can i pull the oil cooler parts from the 4.3 and use them on the V8?
.
4. should i even use the oil cooler or would it make it harder to keep the motor cool?
.
5. what is the 2nd wire on the 92 altinator for? and how would i hook that up to my factory 1 wire set up?
thanks for any help you guys can give. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I used a 4.3 radiator for a long time without problems. It would run hot on occasion, but never overheated. 2 10\" pullers may not be enough, I squeezed 2 12\" pullers in there and it worked good.
The oil cooler should work, and if it does I would keep it. If the original engine failed I would get it flushed, what the hell fluch it anyway.
I dont know what extra wire you are talking about. There are a couple of wires that all go to the same stud- 1 goes to the battery, the other goes to the engine harness, then there is the plug.

should have clerified the wires. on the plug its self. my 86 was a one wire for the regulator. the 92 has the same type of plug but there is a red and black wire that goes to it. the 4.3 only has 50,000 miles on it. runs like a top. quite no smoke starts right up. just has a bad fuel pump and no title. so it a complete parts car for me. what brand 12\" fans can i use with out breaking the bank? also there isnt much more room. the only reason the 2 10\" fans fit is because the 4.3 radiator is longer then the vette radiator. the pulley on the water pump is still only about 1\" or so from the radiator just like my last set up.

Since you live in a warmer climate than I, Its possible that the 4.3 rad may not work that well, especially w/ac. I used a modified 2.8 3 core rad for the 1st 5years. My truck was used primarly only in the winter though. The 2nd rad I used was a taurs dual 1\" cores. It handled the heat of a NY summer and pulling the race car trailer.
As for the oil cooler, as long as its in good shape use it. IT too will help keep your motor cool. Definitley a benifite.
I have a single 10\" pusher. Its for hot moments only when cruising in the winter with a snow plow blade hanging in front of the air flow of the rad. The flex fan does a good job.
Space.

cant fit a flex fan at all. i have the vette single core 2\" wide (4 core) but the 4.3 radiator is perfect as far as heater hose placement top and bottom rad hoses fit perfect, and the fact that i have and can use the oil cooler. what if i use the 2 10\" fans in front of the condesor and a single 14\" offset in the front of the engine? if i can fit the 2 10s behind the grill?

give me till this evening and I will get you an answer. I used the plug from a 89 blazer on my camaro that we just rewired. It has two wires on it as well. red and brown? I cant remember. When I leave school and get home I will find out what we ran them to. Should be the same

on the wiring diagram that i have it shows: on the post- a red wire (10g) to battery and two fusible links (rust orange) then into red wires. One ign switch & junction block, the other also to the same junction block and also tail lamp fuse and headlight switch.
on the plug- pink w/ black ign/gauges fuse and brown to the instrument cluster
hope that helps some. My 93 blazer looks the same as above.

im talking about the plug for the internal regulator.they are red and brown 16 or 18 gauge wires. i know 1 is for the regulator but i dont know what the other is for and which wire goes where.

brown I believe runs to the voltmeter and the other runs to switched power. Ill find out for sure a bit later. Atleast thats how it is run on my camaro. And I pulled the plug from a blazer and put it on it. So.....

You must have the older non-cs style alternator that has the 2 wire small plug. My 93 had a CS style alternator with a different style plug.

cs style? dont know what that means. but the plug is the same size and looks exactly the same as the late 80s and up 1 wire alt plug. just has 2 smaller wires instead of just the 1?

Non-CS (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=egnsearch.asp&Ntt=alternator&N= 115+4294880793+4294880742&Ntk=KeywordSearch)CS style case (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=egnsearch.asp&Ntt=alternator&N= 115+4294880793+4294880704&Ntk=KeywordSearch)
The CS style ones usually have a few wires on one plug then a stud with a few more wires all going to the same stud. I think my 93 has a black plug with 3-4 wires on it.

well then i have the cs style. but both of them are the same style? i know about the wires on the stud. i even know that 1 of the wires on the plug is for the regulator. but i dont know if it is the red wire or brown wire. and i dont know what the 2nd wire is for.

sorry zr1, we had a rough weekend weatherwise and we lost internet access at home. We hooked the brown to the voltmeter and the other to switched power. the only thing is that the camaro had those wires already in the harness. We finally matched the wires up after somebody had completely rigged the entire engine bay. I hope this helps somehow.

works fine. i will run the red to my factory harness for the regulator and i will run the brown to my autometer volt meter. thanks
