i know this has been brought up before, but how difficult/expensive is it to swap discs for drums in a first gen s10? do they require adjustment to work with rabs, and will the screw up my brake bias?
my drum are acting up, haven\'t had the time to look at them yet, but my phillosophy is that if it needs replacing, UPGRADE. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

As light as these trucks are in the rear-i would just fix what you got. JMO

You would need the proper axles, I am pretty sure the OD of the flange is different. The bias would also be a problem, but you can grab the valve off of the donor.
ABS should not be a problem.

I have disc\'s on the back of mine and they are great. Stop on a dime and give ya change back. i have had tem on for over 5 or 6 years now.
I used a 92 or so rear end housing. The later model,can\'t remember just what year they started, have a backing plate that bolts on with 4 bolts. It just happens that the flange is the same as an 82-87 or so Camaro/Firebird axle flange. So, you use the caliper mounting brackets to mount the clipers on the S-10 rear end. You wil need to have the axle flangs machined to fit inside the rotors from the same. I didn\'t want to use the calipers from the Camaro, as they always tend to freeze up,so after looking at the options I had,I found that if you use 2 left hand calipers off an S-10 or most GM intermitate, you just have to notch the mounting bracket in 3 places to clear the caliper. I used two front brake hoses from an S-10 as well and made small brackets that I welded to the housing for the hoses to mount to. Bent up two metal brake lines to finish it off.
I did also use the S-10 brake booster with out any problems. I did use the proportioning valve from the Camaro for peice of mind. Not reall sure if it makes any difference or not, I just did it.
One last thing I did while I was putting the disc\'s on the rear end was use the same year Camaro third member that just happened to be a 3.42 posi. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
Hope this helps you and anyone else.

I used a disc setup from a \'94 camaro and a aftermarket prop. valve and it works great. You have to use the rotors from the camaro, I removed the ebrake from the calipers also. Bolts right up to all newer style s10 rears. Alot cheaper than aftermarket setup.
