I am in need of finding a egr hose fitting like the one in this picture. (that thing sticking out of the back of the driver side manifold)

I need one for my 5.7 vortec. I am going to use a camaro manifold and I will need to drill a hole in the header and weld in, so if anyone knows where I can get this part or something like it please post it here.

IceQueen said that I could cap it off and be fine, and I asked a mechanic at the dealer and he said it will run like normal but my check engine light will always be on, so I\'m just gonna hook up the egr hose. He said it would run the same either way but that litle orange light will be quite the eye sore.

Thanks http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT: I FOUND OUT THAT 88-92 TBI CAMAROS HAD THE CORRECT FITTING THAT i NEED SO DOES ANYONE HAVE ONE THEY WILL GIVE UP? I NEED DRIVER SIDE ONLY

my brother put the edelbrock headers on his TPI 350 and cut off all the air fittings and welded the holes shut, no problems and no check engine lights. I would just drill a hole and weld in a small piece of tubing with a flare fitting on it.

ok i found the magazine article. but it is for tpi but it gives you the fitting that needs to be welded in the header then you could weld that to you stock pipe or the company might even make one for your engine.the company is called SDPC ill see if they have a web site and contact you

Koerbs your mechanic is a dunder head as long as you leve your egr module plugged in if your computer requires it no check engine light doesn\'t matter if the holes are filled.

on my truck im running the tbi system off a 89 full size which is teh same as the 4.3 system and i have no egr hooked up. the wire for the egr is just laying on the intake for now.

Even after a 4 hour long drive it never came on. now it does come on if i try to slow down by putting hte tranny into 2 gear after a few secs the check engine light come on but thats it and then it goes awway after a couple minutes.

A 3 different master techs from the dealer don\'t know what they are talking about?

And they are close friends of my Dad\'s, gee, humm, if they won\'t profit from it why would they care?

I am have 2 apprentice students and had my master tech 5 years ago, just because they work at a dealership doesn\'t make you a god and all knowing they probably thought you wanted to take the whole egr valve assembly off the engine so what they meant when they told you your engine light would come on is that the computer would detect if you unplugged your egr valve it has sensors to detect eregularities what. I told you has nothing to do with removing the valve or unplugging it I told you to cap the egr inlet. you can use a npt bolt and then your done. and in the future if you want to put the buypass back on you just remove the bolt and hook it up.

That fitting is just pipe thread. I welded a piece of pipe in my old headers but you could pipe tap a hole in your manifold.

On the 95 up vortec manifolds that fitting is at the back end of the left manifold.

It appears to be a 1/2 inch pipe thread on the bottom (into the manifold) and a 1/2\"

compression fitting (the kind they use in natural gas lines where a flex pipe {like for a stove or water heater} is connected). You should be able to get one at your local DIY big box. All you would then need to do is weld a 1/2\'\' pipe nipple into you header.

The egr light comes on with some computers and not with others. With the early ecm\'s it\'s not a problem. With the obd computers they sense a change in the o2 sensor reading. When the computer activates the egr and nothing changes it knows something ain\'t kosher. Some egr\'s have an egr dianostic switch connected to the erg valve which senses temperature. If the erg doesn\'t function, it doesn\'t sense any heat and complains to the ecm. The only way I know of around this one is to ground the park neutral switch because the sensor doesn\'t operate when the car is out of gear. Problem with doing this is pretty self evident. Hope this sheds a little light. I too am a newbie here, but have been a mechanic sense 1968. Retired now, but still love cubic horsepower.
