View Full Version : Camaro Radiator
I\'ve heard that a V-8 Camaro radiator from the 80\'s will work in an S-10. I have a radiator from an \'85 Iroc laying around. Will it work? For anyone that modified the area where the AC condenser was -- what all did you have to do to make the rad. fit there?
I\'m going to be running a 350 with a mechanical fan. Some people say that you have to move the rad. forward and some say you don\'t. Either way will the Camaro rad work with minimal or no modifications?
well if it was in a camaro with a v8 then it should cool a s10 with a v8 if it fits.
if you are planing on running a mech fan then you\'ll prob need to set the rad in the forward position, and set the engine as far back as possible.

i didnt do the rad on my truck, but when my father did he used the rad from an 89 iroc camaro. it involves reworking the area a little can it can be made to fit pretty well. i am also running to of the stock electric fans for an 89 iroc as well. the fit with very little modification to the fron grill.

The camaro and corvette are 2 cars without grilles. The only air they get to cool the motor is whats grabbed from underneath it.. and being so low to the ground its not pulling in THAT much air.. as you know S10s have grilles so, we can get more air through the rad\'s. so i say, anything that can cool a V8 without a grille can cool a S-truck.

You can make anything fit with a big enough hammer and some duct tape. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

I prefer an air driven disc cutter or a plasma torch

Dont quote me on this but if you put it in the a/c condensor spot you will have to get a remote filler cap. I have an 83 T/A radiator sittin in my right now. It is a little tall but a low-profile cap will help along with using thin rubber mount thingies on the bottom.

the best radiator i have found to use is one out of a late 80\'s ford tourus it fits better than any other i have tried all you need to do is notch both sides of the upper rad support and drill four holes and you can actually use the the rads lower plastic mounting pins and then use two bolts in the upper mounting holes through the rad support . hope this helps if you need any more info e-mail me at syclones10@yahoo.com

best this to do it just try it you might need to modify the core support some but modifications are what its all about right! in my truck i uded one from a 77 3/4 ton it actually sat at an angle from top to bottom but looked decent and cooled vey well.. if you have the camaro rad. give it a try it should cool it fine
