I have a frame a friend gave me and I wanted to use the 2.8 motor mounts that are on it for my v8 swap. How in the world are you supposed to get to the nuts on the back side?

All ideas will be welcomed? Thanks .... Clueless in Kentucky...... Dave

Another option is to remove the coil springs and go in thru the opening in the frame. More work but less destructive.

I know 4x4s have torsion bars and 2wds have coil springs, so I don\'t know if there is a difference as far as the springs getting in the way. But on my 4x4 I was able to slide a wrench back behind each nut (I believe 15mm?) and then put a socket on the front and get them out. I could do it, but it was VERY time consuming and required a great deal of patience. Just had to go in from any angle available....I think swapping out my frame mounts probably took me about 3-4 hours total....what a pain in the ass for 6 freakin nuts and bolts!

on the left side(drivers), there should be a slot you can get a wrench in. on the right side, i drilled a 1 1/8 hole with a hole saw on the back side of the frame...doesnt hurt the frame at all......if you dont like the hole you can weld the slug from the hole saw back in....

Just grind the bolts off, then the stud and nut will just fall out the bottom.

Then on your new mounts, you can just use some slightly larger bolts, and weld around the edge of the mount to the frame for added support.

I ran a wire down through the holes. Tied a string to the wire and to the end of a bolt and pulled the bolt up through the hole. Tack welded the bolt to the frame just enough to hold it. Used a lock washer and nut on top to bolt down the mount. Works great.

I finally got them off, I had to stand the frame up on its side and unbolt the suspension and reach up through the lower A frame mounting holes with a wrench. two hours of my day shot because they couldn\'t engineer that better. I guess they were trying to create some job security for Mr. Goodwrench.......Dave http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif
