View Full Version : Sanderson Big Tube question
Anyone here use the sanderson big tube headers? if so did you have any problems with them at all as far as clearance?
I would be interested in what you find out. I have been looking for a set of large tube headers myself. The only ones I found were made by Stall. They are fenderwell headers and will not fit my truck because of roll cage suports. What size tubing are the headers and are they for a small block. Do they fit angled plug heads?

why does every one want large tube headers....on most street and some drag trucks a 1-5/8 tube is more than big enough....the valve in a small block is 1.60in ,,so a 1-1/2 would be to small and a 1-3/4 would be to big....even if you had bigger valves more than lickley the heads cant flow enough air throuh them to make up the extra size ..there for it mkaes less power and tq...now big block are a little different...i have 1.88 exaust vales in my 427...i plan on getting 2in headers...not 2-1/8 or bigger....you can only get as much air past the valve as the same size valve...a 2in headers will do no good on a street motor ...a 1-3/4 would work on a small block if it is making a lot of power ..over 500hp...if not than it\'s just wasteing money .....it does\'t matter if your ports are 3in wide ..if your valve is only 1.60 than thats all the air it can get out....is;t a simpy as that ..also called phisyis...

Sanderson has always had 1 5/8\" and 1 3/4\" primaries for their v8 headers. As long as I know at least.
My heads are stock, same with my valves and such. GM claims I need 1 3/4\" primaries for my motor. I wanna upgrade to them soon. Hopefully I will be around the 525 hp mark by the end of the summer.
I\'ll be using them if I ever get my other motor together too. I wanna be around the 700 hp mark with my next motor.

if gm says that you need big tubes than im sure that you do...gm is pretty dang smart and your crate motor with the heads from the crate motor will probaly flow enough air through them to benfit from a large tube...what im taliking about is putting a large tube on a stock or near stock motor-head combo...it just dont work nearly as good ...you would be amased at how much more power and tq is accived in headers ...like from a small to a large tube....put a large tube on a near stock motor and it will be doggy ...put a smaller tube on it and it should run harder.....just like 3in exaust system a 300 horse motor don\'t need that big of a system ...400 horse motor does...
