\"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man\'s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn\'t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and the excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.\" Theodore Roosevelt 1907 I\'m not trying to start anything. I am just proud to be an American. Now, always, and forever! Truckinbuzzard http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

I agree buzzard------ however, if you are gonna be here, you pay taxes like the rest of us- thats why our hospitals , and a lot of our infrastructures are overloaded with care being given to those who are here illegally-- using our system and paying nothing into it. i dont blame them for coming here-LEGAL TAXPAYERS-LAW ABIDING CITIZENS that can speak english and not ride the welfare system.

I couldn\'t agree more.In my opinion there are two issues at stake here.#1 \'Most\' politicians in this country are not worth their salt.Because many of them are mainly concerned about being \'career\' politicians and so they have been scared to death to stand up against this for fear of loseing their job and injuring their political party,so it\'s not so much that we\'re loseing our country,it\'s being given away!

#2 And I know some will disagree with this but this weighs into the cultural/traditional battle thats going on.Some Americans \'hate\' tradional American way of thinking (culturally/religiously) that they would do anything to change our way of life and immigrants that don\'t want to become Americans are one surefire way of doing that.

This is the land of the free and open to all races/nationalities,I don\'t want to change that but yes, there are millions that are here and don\'t give a dam about being an American.

i second the motion...if they\'re gonna b here then learn the language, pay taxes and pull your weight.second,as far as i\'m concerned, career politicians can kiss my tusch.i,m tired of being lied to and money taken away so they can have the pension plan we can only dream of and their kids can go to college without a worry.GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

what happened 100 years ago or more? millions of people came to this country through new york, phila. and san francisco. they came in the legal way. yall are right. theres way too many people in this country that are here illegally, sponging off of the system, and dont give a shit about being an american. and who pays for it? we do. i could rant for an hour about the shittyness on the US government and its policies. both here and abroad. personally im all for rounding up every single person thats in this country illegally and deporting every one of them. of course its not that simple, theres 12000 miles of red tape and other nonsensical bullshit to go through to even order a box of pencils as far as the government is concerned. thats the exact same reason youll never see a nationalized healthcare system either.

ok, im done for now.

furthermore - i wholeheartedly agree that if you want to live here then you need to learn the language, pay taxes and contribute to the society as a whole.

another thing i failed to mention is the whole money aspect of this country. the government runs on money. whoever has the most money gets catered to. theres too much money in the hands of too few people. the people dont run the country, neither does the government. large corporations do.

This country was started by immigrants.

This country was started by immigrants.

Other than the Indians who were already here, This country was started by immigrants.

Our orignal plan was to let all with open arms. I agree that there is TOOOOOO many problems asscioated with immagraants that there must be a sloution. They come here to work. So may them pay taxes. It would be easier to admit there here than to hide them in the background. Just remeber, your grand parents came from somewhere! Where? You know where and when....

As fro the corparations. I agree 100%!!!!! they run the country. I will quote a movie made by Richard Pryor \" Brewsters Millions\" Quote: Why pay a half million dollars to win an election for a 60,000 a year job unless you planed on stealing the money back with interest anyways.

Spaced or just out to lunch? My 2 cents.

Space.

we have some guys that work for us from trinidad. they dont pay U.S. tax but they do get the same wages we get. they have to pay taxes in their country. i think the point here is all the talk about the illegal mexicans they have been talking about in the news. that is bad very bad. coming here to work on a visa is no different the us going to china, russia, and so on to work. the problem is that these guys come here and work for peanuts and the big companies hire them. their argument is if they didnt do the work then they would have to close the doors and go out of buisness because nobody want to pick fruit. BULLSHIT!!!!!! if the bastards would pay an honest wage their would be plenty of AMERICANS (regardless of race) lined up to do the job. their trying to do what any other company would do if they had the chance. no benifets, super low wages, no employee rights that cost the company money! they make an 85% profit over the average 15%-20% profit of most companies. if you dont belong here you should be kicked out of the country. period!!!! you come back you get shot. period!!!! i have no problem with a man making a buck but there is a leagal way to do it. they know if they get a work visa then that same company wont hire him because he knows then he too can demand a more competitive wage. there fore he wont find a job!! no different then a sweat shop. but i guess thats leagal here. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

i agree with most of the things said in this thread. I work hard, pay my federal taxes, pay my state taxes, pay my personal property taxes, etc., etc., i don\'t have a problem with ethnic diversity in a country, or with people coming here from other countries and BECOMING CITIZENS, what i do have a problem with is immigrants coming here and NOT having driver\'s licenses, NOT having car insurance, NOT being able to speak English(or read it you understand-no street signs, no maps, etc.) NOT paying taxes, and then working in jobs that Americans should have, living as parasites in America!! i had 2 friends when i lived in houston that had their cars wrecked by latinos who DIDN\'T have car insurance! what happens to those latinos who ran into my buddies in their accessorized, white wall tired, fake-gold spoke rimmed hoopdies? they got a ticket!! which they\'ll never pay!! they don\'t have a drivers\' license or insurance, they won\'t get deported because the government has bigger fish to fry financially than paying to have a bunch of illegals shipped back to mexico. so they\'ll go buy another jalopy, pimp it out with every accessory they can afford from Autozone, and total some other tax payer\'s car!! meanwhile, my tax paying, selective service-registered, hard-working buddy is out of a car!! makes me so mad. i guess if they did make them all citizens, at least they could go to jail like a normal person here, but then the jails would all be overrun more than they already are. i personally, would be willing to invest some money in a program that would ship them all back to mexico and make the penalty for returning a 10 year prison sentence to include some kind of hard labor building up America!! I would be willing to bet there are more people like me out there too who would be willing to drop some coin into a program like that!! ha!!

Everyday i read about schools over run with non english speaking children of illegal immigrants, hospitals and clinics closing due to hige financial losses caused by the same illegal mmigrants. city and county goverments who have huge budget shortfalls due to the same people. i\'m tired of searching on a package fore the english instructions or label, english and spanish options on phone systems when calling a utility company..they should be adjusting to us.. NOT us to them.. Send all 16 million back and build the wall and then let the people in who are willing to come the legal way and let them have the jobs that the illegals did..

I thought the government was suppose to be working for us, not the other way around. Yet, the American people cannot vote on this issue. Who are they to tell us what is gonna happen. It\'s pretty obvious they don\'t make good decisions. They need to shut down the border and do it now. I am a truck driver and often deliver and pick-up in south Texas along the border. It is amazing the trash and the deterioration down there. They live this way without a care, and wish the rest of the U.S. was this way. If i was invited into someones house, that would make me a guest...The government wants to give amnesty to millions of these illegals and use the term \"Guest worker program.\" I don\'t remember anyone inviting them here. I am so @#%^ pissed about how this country is being disrespected by people that shouldn\'t be here. With all of the American jobs that have gone south of the border, you would think they wouldn\'t need to come here for a job. I am tired of supporting illegals and just plain lazy people. Come here legally and stand on your own two feet or leave, because we don\'t need you here. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

It\'s the same thing that Cuba did back in the day when they emptied their prisons ---- to get rid of their trash people----- as is with mexico---- sending their trash to us. Mexico city is not full of the rejects---- they are pushed out in the boonies to do the best they can- so they come here for a better life. It\'s happening here- the middle class is dissappearing- soon it will be rich or poor people -guess who makes the rules--RICH PEOPLE.

mexicans drive like crap. guy up here hit a farmers traler while doin 80 over a hill, 3rd accident in a week. i was at a ski hill last month, gotta have a license to rent stuff, some 16 yr. old mexican girls tried to rent some stuff w/ no license and they drove there! i was so mad, but i kept my mouth shut.

these people don\'t care and it ticks me off, i pay so much in taxes, i don\'t want them getting any of it.

and i hate the media for supporting them, wouldn\'t it be great if every time them people went out to protest, we arrested the whole lot and sent em home? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif they\'d shut up real quick.

don\'t know what the gov\'t will decide to do but if they\'re gonna let any stay, let\'s make this the rule, \"1) you must speak FLUENT english, 2) you must ALREADY have the education to live ABOVE the poverty level, cuz we don\'t want to bail you out\"

i\'ve wanted to bring up this topic for a while, why don\'t we do a large protest too?
