my first s10v8 (very flashy with racing decals and a big screaming chicken on the hood)got hit by a 17 yearold blond girl, she ran a yellow light and turned in front of me,the local cop said the accident was my fault .\"i wonder why\"

insurance company fought for me and i got my money back from hers.\"it was her fault,,,i ve had a CDL for 8 years and i drive the speed limit everywhere and im very careful,

my fanbelt squealed once and i got pulled over and told to \"drive right in his town\"pffft

just finished my second s10v8,,but i worry about driving it on the street,,has anyone else had these problems?

41?? yeah, I\'d say that was old enough for the cops not to be giving you heat.... Even though, in theory, I could be your dad. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_frown.gif

.......... Sometimes it\'s your body language, eye contact, etc. For instance, I\'ve always act like I didn\'t know the cops are there. When they\'re behind you, NEVER look in the mirror. (kind of like dealing with a wild animal....., NO eye contacthttp://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif ) NEVER go on or below the speed limit when they\'re on your ass, a couple mile above usually works for me. Anything that will make your truck stand out in a crowd will draw peoples attention. It will also draw law enforcement\'s attention.

If your truck looks and sounds like your ready for a race, the cops will always keep an eye out for you.

Space.

My truck is bright yellow. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif Talk about standing out.

I hate cops too. and most of my friends and family are cops. Not only do they look for people to harass, but most are just fund raisers for cities. (especially bike cops) Their sole purpose in life is to drive around and write tickets for the most useless things. Or if they just really hate themselves that day, they will stand under an over pass and wait for someone to drive by with an inspection sticker out or unbuckled. Get a freakin life and stop harassing the people that pay your salary!!!!!!

Sorry, Getting off my soap box now.

A tip I learned many years ago, give a donation to their fund raisers and they give you a sticker to put on your window or bumper, when the cops see that sticker it is like a get out of jail free card... This is a small price to pay for a little VIP treatment.

I have been INTERRUPTED in my test and tune session on a country road by a cop. Some of the residents of the area called the cop on me. I had open exhaust and all. As I turn around to do the pass again the cop stops on the side of the road. I went past him but he never stopped me or asked aything. I have a decent cam in it so it sounds like it is running rough at idle and I have rust and primer on the body. The ugly looks of the truck (with loud as heck exhaust) has worked for me so far. I think that most cops have the window up most of time to keep the AC/Heat in, so I would just lose the stickers and such. Stock color with stock lights and mild tint is all a cop can handle. My2C

Gumby,,,ya gotta learn to play the game.I am not an outlaw but I wouldn\'t give a plug nickle for cops that don\'t have anything to do other than pull someone over for driving a hotrod. But if your exhaust is loud or you were caught driving reckless,,,,don\'t blame the cops.\"Look & Listen\" first, for pedestrians, cops, neighbors looking out the window, ugly dogs http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif ,and then floor it! If a cop \'drops out of the sky\",do what I did when I saw him in my rear-view,jump out,pop the hood, and as he is walking up,let him hear you say,\"stupid internet throttle linkage sticking\",,, http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

i agree,,i never drive reckless around anyone ,unless i got plenty of room on a back road somewhere,,my exhaust isnt really that loud.but ,ive found that state troopers never gave me any problem ,even if they pull me over for something. ,,,its just those darn locals looking for money.

I hate cops to, to much time, but I love it when you driving down the innerstate and a cop without his lights on passes you doing 90 and then he pulls off down the road and pulls people over for the same thing he just did, they are above the law and it's not right.

most cops are crooked in my opinion. its like being racist against fast looking vehicles. i dont own anything that dosnt look fast. if you think they like to pull s10v8s over try riding a crotch rocket. they like to TRY and pull us over too. lol

I'm 28, always had a lot of problems with the fuzz. Although, I have never gotten a ticket. I have had street rods (tbuckets) and did my s-10 when I was 17. I had my own personal cop in my hometown (pop. 2300). When I moved to Indianapolis, I have had no problems. I think the cops up here have better things to do. Real crime, not like in small town USA. I own some of the faster cars I have ever owned now, and do N2O passes in town, and never been pulled over, including when I was doing over 80 in a 55, through a speed trap. I love the big city, and being left alone. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

ive had my problems with the cops too. Try pulling a holeshot in front of the chief of police in an unmarked car. And rippin gears on a back road, come to find out theirs a cop runnin radar behind the trees, he said I accelerated from like 25 to 63 mph in like 50 feet, when he pulled me over he asked if I had nos I said no lol. Every morning when I would leave for work about 5 people a day would call in a complaint for having loud pipes. Thats why I trailer it now http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

o ya I forgot, once I got a $50 ticket burnout related, and the cop said he had to take a picture of my truck so he could keep it on file!!! So he whips out a digital camrea, takes a pic of my truck and then takes a pic of my pissed off face and tells me to smile WTF man any one had this problem http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

Dunno about you guys, but here is my LT1 86' taken today 4.12.08 (http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t4/auroradan/S15%20V8/PICT2303.jpg) and this view that the boys in blue see (http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t4/auroradan/S15%20V8/PICT2305.jpg) when following. Exhaust is whisper quiet, unless I gun the engine you wouldn't know there was anything under the hood other than the original 2.nothin.

One day returning from a local auction I had a battery powered 1950s Cushman in back. Doing about 70 on our 65 portion of I-5 a http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/smileJap.gif POS passed me maybe doing 80, I gunned it and maybe was doing 100 ( speedo only goes to 80ish) when I flew by him (all within 1/2 mile or so). He seemed to try to catch me, but I guess wacking off the muffler only made his $h!t pile loud!

I drive quickly maybe 10-15 over all the time. Smoke the tires at lights daily and use uphill freeway onramps as a personal challange to see if I can hold WOT all the way into my lane and try not to rearend the car infront of me while doing triple digit mph!

All this and have yet to be bothered by boys in blue. I'm 42, fat, balding and probably look like a city park creep.

Quiet exhaust does make great sleepers!

I've had it go both ways. When i first got the swap done on my blazer i had cops following me everywhere. I also had my foot into it everywhere i went. i would get passed by a cop going the other way only to have them do a u turn in the middle of the street and follow me. if i was behind them they would pull over till i went by and get right back out behind me. It got to the point where i just stayed out of town with it for almost a year because i didnt want to deal with it.

When i was living in NC i never once had a problem with the local fuzz. They pulled into my apartment complex one day looking for someone. Cop walks up to me "hey, do you know the whereabouts of _______?" which i didnt. then i get "by the way, do you know who drives that white blazer?" i tell him "yea, i do, is there a problem?" cop says "no, i was just curious. thats not a v6 under that hood is it?" "nope, its got an 8 in it" cop says "yeah, i figured as much, it sounds too good to be a 6 cylinder and i've seen you leave off of a green light in that thing." here i thought i was going to have a problem living down south with yankee plates on my truck.

i seem to get the cool cop that is more entriqued by the factory looking instal and the abnormal sound coming from the rear instead of the sound of a screaming v6 and a loud fan clutch......

I'm pushing 60 years old. The only time I got stopped in my V8 S10 since I put it on the road three years ago was by a kid (looked like he was about 18 years old) local cop who wanted to look at my 31 x 16.5 x 15 hoosier quick time rear tires cause he thought I was running slicks on the street. Once he saw the tread he and I went on our separate ways.

I guess I'm not quite as crazy of a driver as some of you but one thing does come to mind when I think about Cops, one morning I was going fishing at 4 AM, I left my house and it looked like one of my low beams was out, I continued on and when I got to the road that leads to the inlet (that is patrolled heavily) I was hoping they would not notice, well there he was, he pulled me over, asked me if I new I had a headlight out and I said I'm not sure but it seemed like it, I tried to get out and check the connection terminal for the headlight and he told me to get back in the truck, slapped me with a very pricey ticket and went on his marry way... I was really pissed off at this point and contacted someone at the station about it, I was told that I could get it reduced if I found another Cop within six hours, promiss to have it repaired immediately, have the ticket signed by the officer and they would reduce the payment at the courthouse... Well it only went down about ten bucks, I still had to pay over $75 bucks for that headlight... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif

I live in a small town that the cops don't really bother us. If your from out of town though, your screwed. I have been clocked at 45 over and still had just a talk and on my way. I have learned to not mess around with other towns though. I ran a light at 4AM. There were three parish cops, two town cops, and one state cop. I got a 150.00 dollar ticket. went to talk to the judge, we talked about golf for about 20 minutes than he tore up the ticket. That is what is nice about small towns. It is who you know down here.

With everyone who has complained about what the cops did to you, can you honestly say that you didn't know that you were in the wrong. The guy with the headlight, you knew you were wrong. Not the cops fault. I don't mean to be a jerk but everytime I have been pulled over I knew I was wrong. I grew up in Md. I must of had 5 tickets before I was 17. 85 plus in 55. two weeks later 82 in 55 coming off a enterance ramp. You have to love the power of a well built small block. 55 in a 35 zone. The stupid thing on that was I had just passed by the cop picked up my friend than drove back by him. All I could say was damn how stupid could I get. I can honestly say I desired all the tickets I got.

I still say living in a small town is better than large cities. I was riding with a buddy testing out his nos. We were in a camero with a 572 big block. We made about 5 passes in a row. The last two we shot 300. We were clocked slowing down at 135. The cops just laughed, he was glad we didn't run. In a big city we would have gotten jail time.

anyway it was nice thinking about them old days. Now I am 40 years old, two brats, I mean kids, and a wife to come home two. I still speed but my street racing days are over.
