I know that the Camaro t-5 is one of the trannies the good book says will work with a stock 350. since some camaros came w/ a 2.8 v6 (may that never happen again) would it match up with my 2.8 i got now? assuming i got the right bell housing of course.

the 2.8 camaro trans will mount in place of the 2.8 s10 trans, yes. however, the shifter is situated about 14 inches farther back then the s10 shifter. so you have 2 choices. bolt a camaro trans in and cut a new hole for the shifter, or buy a camaro trans and swap the tail shafts around along with the top of the case. that way you have a camaro gearbox with an s10 tail shaft. theres really no benefit to using a camaro trans vs. an s10 trans behind the 2.8. theyre both geared the same and handle the same amount of torque.

ok, thanks. reason i thought i might do it now is that a guy\'s giving me a pair of bucket seats to replace my bench, so i figured the camaro t-5 would help fill the space and be a little more fun to shift being farther back (it has a shorter throw, too, doesn\'t it?). it\'s what i want to use w/ the 350 (whenever i actually can afford that project) so i figured it couldn\'t hurt to use it now.

Remember that the bellhousing on t5 will be different for a 2.8 compared to a 350. they do not interchange.

id leave the camaro shifter in it. its alot more erganomically(sp?) correct. i hate almost punching the dash when i slam in in first. stupid truck transmissions.

and are you wanting to use the same tranny on down the road behind a 350?

i dunno, did it continue beyond the 3rd gens or was it offered w/ the t-56?
and yeah, i would use it w/ the 350 too, just change bell housings. the camaros throw is shorter than the 8\" or so in my truck right? http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

as far as i know, the t5 wasnt put behind any 350s in the third gen. only behind the 305. I heard that they couldnt handle the power from the 350 in stock trim. Not sure if that is correct or not, just a heads up.

do a search on google, theres a gew good t5 info sites out there, and remember you will probably need to change the input shaft unless you want to shorten it (space knows how....) and the t5 will stand to 350 power for a while, but it usually is a ticking time bomb, especially if its not a world class (which that 2.8 one definately wont be)
