If anyone has or knows a stroker 383, whats the gas consumption like compared to a 350 ? Just wondering.

It all depends on what is done to it, high hp or low hp. Being a larger displacement will mean it will get lower gas mileage then the 350, however, seeing as those are low end power engines, it may even do better by being in its power band sooner.i would say it will be less efficient with gas, but not enough to worry about.

I also have a 383, turbo 350 and 373\'s. About right 10mpg around town driving like granny. Playing around about 5 to 6 and at the track, 1/8 mile, 10 passes 6 gallons of 110. That\'s about .2 mpg or 4.8 gal per mile. One day I\'ll find a cheap hobby. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

The short answer: If you gotta ask, forget it. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif
That all said, I don\'t suppose the economy difference between a 383 & 350 would be all that huge. It\'s just about everything else that DOES make the difference... cam, heads, carb, gears, and the resulting HP, etc. And, more likely that not, if building a 383, you\'ll be looking at perfomance oriented cam, heads, carb, and gears.... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif
Just for insite, the larger the cubes does not always mean poor fuel enconomy.( to a reasonable extent ) A properly built and tuned big block ( 454,427.429 ect ) used to get(on the high end ) between 15-19 miles per gallon driven like a granny. So I think the combination of engine parts and assembly dictates the outcome. Once a compatable parts list is assembled, tuneing would be very important to get these numbers....Sounds like GM, Ford , ect did their homework in this area...Note* NOBODY DRIVES A BIGBLOCK like a Granny!!!

Isn\'t that the truth! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif
I don\'t think any of us are are doing this for the fuel mileage.
Hey Scotty, did you have a good weekend? Run the truck?
