It would cost more money to destroke than to stroke. You can find some really affordable rotating assemblies for big blocks now. A 496 kit would be nice in an S-10.
I did hear that some guys were destroking big blocks around Charleston SC. They claim they rev like crazy and really make some serious top end power.

GM did make a 366 (+/-) inch big block, I don\'t think it was ever in a car, for trucks only. (no, NOT in S-10s... http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif )

366 = torque + heavy - hp + slow rev

I knew what you meant adh. To me it only is releveant with 400-454 cubic inch motors.
But doesnt someone make a 500 cube small block ls1? Could have sworn I seen something like that.

chevrolet did have a few cars that had 400 on the body of the car-- mainly impalas or caprices in the early 7o\'s-- some were big blocks- actuallt they were 402\'s and some were small block 400\'s that is the biggest cube motor for a small block in a chevy factory. Yes there are some bigger cubic small blocks produced by after market builders- Oh, forgot corvette has a 427 small block in the high dollor vettes.

hate to tell you chief, but for the sake of arguement they DID in fact make a 350 big block. see for yourself. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Big-Block_engine#348) also for the sake of arguement, a smallblock 350 dont exactly measure up to 350 cubic inches either.

Hey, thats a real interesting link. I never thought of the 348/409 engines as being in the same family as \"big blocks\", but I guess they share some common design features. I wonder if the bore centers were the same?
........... Those 409s were kick-ass motors. Looking at those specs, I forgot how big the bores were on those engines! 4.312\" X 3.5\"!! That\'s a crazy bore-stroke ratio for a big engine. No wonder they revved like a chainsaw motor! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

i know the 348 was a big block. thats what i said in my last post. the standard smallblock 350 measures out to 348 too. thats what i meant when i said the 350 isnt exactly a 350.
