Father\'s Day: probably the time more grills are purchased than any other time of year.

This year, we got my Dad a big 22 1/2\" Weber charcoal grill. This got me thinkin that it\'s time for another poll: which do yall prefer/use? Gas or Charcoal?

Personally, I think there\'s no replacement for charcoal, even grilling and it tastes great. and of course, i like playing with lighter fluid. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif

i perfer the taste of charcoal, but i use gas. i just can\'t seem to keep the charcoal evenly heated and it burns out halfway thruogh cooking, so i get pissed off and throw the steaks away! http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Currently gas, but I\'d call myself proficient with charcoal. I like gas for the ease of use, too.

I vote for niether. I like to use wood. Just like camping! Although I converted my gas unit to burn both wood and charcoal. The faimly thought it just took toooooo long to get hot. So, they got a new gas bbq grill. The wife cooks some great steaks on that thing!

Space.

I also like wood the best, whether it be oak, hickory, mesquite, or a blend. Love that real wood flavor. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah, somehow whenever my brother and I cook steaks, we manage to dig up the line from Pulp Fiction \"Burnt to a crisp or bloody as Hell.\" We like \'em medium rare while my in-laws go for the well-done.

Here\'s another line (guess where it came from): \"Prepared? Oh you mean cooked! Well, just knock off its horns, wipe its ass, and plunk it down on the plate.\"

i use charcoal, but wouldn\'t be opposed to gas, no mess, don\'t have to wait freakin 30 minutes for the fluid to burn out of the charcoal. flavor wise, i think charcoal\'s better, and its more fun if you have the time, trying to get the heat just right, etc. i have smoked 2 turkeys with my charcoal smoker, took between 9 and 12 hours both times, and you have to constantly be changing the charcoal, adding wood chips, adding water, making sure the temp. stays up, its kind of fun if you have the time, but also kind of a pain. i guess both charcoal and gas have their advantages.

gotta be charcoal. anyone wanna try something damn good?

take a bag of mesquite chips and soak em in water for about 2 hours. slice up about 5 apples and stick em in there with it too. after the charcoal is lit real good start cookin. as soon as you throw the meat on start dumpin the mesquite on the coals.

btw. does anyone else on here bbq their corn?
