I am starting to put on my serpentine setup and i cant get the vbelt pulley off of the crank in order to put the serp. one on. Is there any trick to the trade or am i just going to have to man up and really force this biotch off??

Pull out the center bolt and the three surrounding bolts. Get a rubber hammer and start hitting. Some pulleys have a bevel on the backside of them which fits in the balancer and can be stubborn sometimes.

thats the problem, i cant get the center bolt off. it just turns the crank as i wrench it. was thinking about putting a pair of grips on it and locking it against the water pump to get it off??

I would crawl under and put a wrench or screwdriver in one of the large holes on flywheel and let it hit the block to hold the engine.

The center bolt is normally torqued to about 90 foot pounds. The best way to remove it is with an impact wrench.

also works to use a breaker bar and pipe. put the pipe against the frame and bump the starter. works every tdime Bernie /Steffen bstef@mchsi.com
