Why not the bigger bore of the 400 block?

If using the 350 block, just do a 383. Its about the same price as a 350 anyways...
If using the 400 block, build a 400. No reason to pay more for less ci.

Amen to that. Regardless of the bore/stroke ratio, giving up cubes is never a good idea.
a 377 will make more power than the 383, but a 400 would make more than either.....

thats not a bad idea i have more parts for the 377 but pretty much the only thing left to get for the 383 is the pistons. i road in a car that a 406 and the 383 in the same car and the 383 was alot faster the 406 was probly tired but the 383 was put together wrong my friend that has the 383 that was put together wrong said the guy who built the motor said he put the pistons in wrong. so the cam he had in it was not much bigger then the one i have got. i think save the 400 and finish the 383 i thinks thats the better idea thanks for the replies and more will be helpful thanks for reading. nick
