if its a 3 speed for sure then its a 350. but if the motor is smaller then a 3.8 v6 it wont work. also in order for it to bolt to s chevy it needs to have 11 holes. any les and its just a B.O.P. trans.

DUH!!!!

i didnt even think of that. i bet $100 thats what it is. in the 80s buick used alot of 200 metrics and 200-4rs. not many 350s. thanks for jump starting my brain for me. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

it would work great as long as it has the chevy bolt pattern on the bellhousing. needs to have i want to say 11 mounting holes.

If the car had a chevy 305 in it then yeah it will work. It might actually be a TH-250-C. That is the tranny that I have in mine right now. Do you see a band adjustment on the outside of the trans? If you do then yeah it is a TH-250-C. Mine has actually been the best trans for me so far. But I\'m selling my truck now so if anyone is interested IM me or email me at leilangreg@crestviewcable.com.

I forgot to mention that my trans came from a 84 pontiac but it should be exactly what you have.

there should be a tag on the tail of the trans. it should have some numbers on it. a local trans shop should be able to decode it for you.

Automatic Transmission Description & Usage

THM200 - Light duty, \"metric\" 3 speed transmission.

THM250 - Used in small 4 cylinder cars (Vega, Sunbird, Monza) from 1973 to 1981 and some Nova/Camaro/Chevelle 6 cylinders in 1974 & 75. The 4 cylinder models have 4 large cooling holes near the torque converter, while on the \"bigger cars\" there are no cooling holes.

THM200-R4 - Used in GM rear wheel drive cars with the 3.8 V6, 305 & 350 Olds and 301 pontiac from 1981 to 1989. This is a 4 speed, overdrive unit.

THM350 - Medium duty 3 speed trans used from 1969 to 1989, Used in Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Chevrolet cars and Chevy & GMC light trucks until 1987. Generally used in straight and V6 and small block engines. Generally able to handle up to 400 foot pounds of torque.

looks like you have either the THM200 or the THM350 and then with the pics provided you can tell if its a THM350 or not. good luck. i hope it works for you.
