I saw these guys on Trucks repairing a cab corner using some panel adhesive. It looked really cool and I was wondering if there were any body men out there that could shed some light on any tips and/or tricks for using it. I have to repair a cab corner myself and the way they did it on tv looked really easy. Thanks in advance for any information. Dave

I also saw that and thought that it was interesting. They said that it was just as strong as a weld if not stronger. I never heard of it before. The only thing about it is that I would know it was there and it would bother me bc I am picky like that. I would feel like I glued pieces of my body together, where as with welding its all metal and one piece when your done. Even that roll on primer was cool though.

One thing I did like about the panel adhesive and the way they did it, is the freedom allowed in cutting a piece to fit. What I mean is that the patch panel did not have to be cut square enough to butt up against the hole it was filling, whereas I found out with MIG welding that you have to have no more than 1/16 inch gap all the way around you panel or you risk burn through. But then again you could weld those pieces in behind the metal as he did and then weld the new piece on them.

I just replaced my cab corners and a small hole in one of the rocker panels on my S10. I used the adhesive and it works very well. It is a two part adhesive, you have to use a fancy calking gun and a fancy tip that mixes the two parts as you are pulling the trigger. works very well and comes in a bunch of differnt work times, anywhere from 3 1/2 min to 45 min working time.

Where did you get it and what was the cost? Thanks... Dave

I got it at our local body shop supply store in town. it cost me $48.00 for the adhesive and $78.00 for the fancy calking gun, the gun comes with two of the fancy tips. This is all in Canadian funds of course. I recommend it, it\'s very easy to work with. Make sure you c-clamp the panel where ever you can, if you can\'t c-clamp it put a couple small aluminum pop rivits to hold it untill the glue has set good.

Body adhesives are used on factory cars in many areas. Doorskins and such. You should see how much glue holds a 97-up Vette together. If you dont have the skills to weld or don\'t have a welder alltogether then glue can work well. You don\'t have to worry about warping,or catching things on fire. 3M pt# 8115 works well and you can accelerate dry time with heat.

I hear that on catching things on fire. I was welding a patch panel to cover the old fuse panel hole and had thrown a thick blanket type thing over my engine. The next thing I know, it\'s going up in flames.
