Well, this past Wednesday night (Aug 9, 2006) I bought a 1987 2.5L manual with manual steer, manual brakes, and no A/C.

A couple of freinds and myself will be doing a budget racer build on her. We\'ll be putting in a 350/350 drive line. We\'ll wait on the stock rear to blow before we replace that.

I am sure I\'ll be bothering you guys with questions. I\'ll be tracking progress on my blog.

Wish us luck. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

You will tear up your trans before or during your rear end. I\'ve seen it happen a couple times.

Good luck, A little time, and paintence will pay off in the end. And in the end it will be all worth it!!!

There are a few of us here that have built multiple s-8\'s.

There are many knowledgeable people here willing to help

I didn\'t make it clear in my first post. We\'re putting in a TH350 trans. We\'re rebuilding it, putting in a shift kit, upgraded 36 element sprag, and maybe switching over to a full manual valve body. Should be fine to at the least 500hp, probably more based on previous experience.

we\'re counting on it. It\'s just not fun unless you\'re breaking stuff. http://www.s10v8.com/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif We\'ll be putting in a ford 9\" when the stock one eats it.

Sounds like a plan!!!

Don\'t forget to take pictures of your progress. They make a great scrap book, and we\'d all also like to see them!

I\'ll definitely be taking lots of pictures. And taking lots of notes. This is going to be quite a learning experience for me. I\'ve never rebuilt an engine or transmission and I plan to learn how with this build. With lots of help of course.

I actually added some sub-blogs to my main so that I could track status on the engine, transmission, chassis, body work, performance, and money invested separately.

So keep an eye out. You guys may get a good laugh at my expense more than a few times during this process.
